How is everyone mounting their cb antenna? I had a custom mount on my 94, but, would like to see what others are doing. Also with CB mount. I had it mounted to the console on the passenger side on my other jeep. Just looking for ideas.

I had a taillight mount that was a universal setup, and mounted my full size radio on the side of the console.. On the 97 I am picking up a mount that is made for the XJ tail light, and am looking at the Cobra 75WXST this time around.. currently debating where I'll be installing the control box for it.. I am currently thinking that while my headliner is out, about running the power and coax wire up and putting the control box in the open cubby on the OHC, but got to get the 75 on order so that I can see if the control box will even fit in there..

This is the ant. mount I'm looking at picking up.. I remember shortly after I did my last mount that I saw one very similar to this design, that went down and around to the second bolt, so that it was secured using two of the tail light bolts, not just the one, but I can't find it now..

Thanks for the response. I just broke a cardinal rule of forum looking. I didnt realize there is a whole subsection on CB stuff.

Shame on me....someone might think I am a newb.

You don't have to worry about that here. If you ask again, you might just find a new, better, answer than you could have just by searching. Something some of the other forums don't seem to realize.

I just put mine inside the console. Although i only have a cobra 19 so a big one wouldn't fit.

And... i have a magnet mount antenna. :p

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

I used a mount I got off Amazon to mount it opposite the factory radio antenna by the hood and mounted the CB on the console sorta next to where the passenger might rest their thigh. Doesn't bother my GF there, so it works for me.

Sorry, this is the only pic I could find that shows the antenna mount.

Mine is mounted on the hood as well. I've had great success with this location especially since I get to use a short cable to the antenna. I believe NW99XJ has this similar setup as well.

Down here,

... most of us do it this way.

Seems to be the complete opposite of what you blokes like ..

Wrap a piece of insulation tape around the thing ... and it also doubles as height gauge to see whether the loaded roof rack will clear low tree branches ..

I've seen a few bumper mounts. Once my bumpers go on, my antenna will be going on the bumper.

I have my Cobra 75WXST tucked behind the center console on the drivers side. I have a lead coming out of the console so that I can attach the microphone cable easily. I use the microphone in my F350, also. It has worked fine for about 4 years now. I don't recall where I got the 5 pin cable. The cable is basically a 5pin panel mount connector with about a 2 foot cable along with the connector that you attach the microphone to. I attached the wire with a cable clamp to limit movement at the connector.
A pic would probably be better but I don't have one handy at the moment.

I used this antenna mount in a similar fashion as the picture that you posted : https://www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/cb-antenna-mounts/products/vertical-door-jamb-cb-antenna-mount

I made my own mount for the driver's side tail light and mounted my CB to the bottom side of my dash on the passenger side. It is just a bit out of reach, but I don't use it everyday. I had it under the dash on the driver's side but put my ham radio there as I use it more.

^Nice! Same CB and mounting location. Great minds think alike!

My antenna cable is routed around the heater duct at the front of the console by the firewall (CD changer and other wiring along the kick panel above the console made routing in that location impossible), then along the driver side of the kick panel, out through the accelerator cable grommet (cut a small cross in it where it already started to split, sealed with black silicone), then along the fender, along side the wire harness, then to the mount.

Hood mount…definitely a hood mount.

Use a commercial low band NMO antenna.

I think in the last two years, that Jeep has had 5 different radios in it…I'm still changing them up. It currently has 3 radios in it, a Cobra 25, Anytone dual band (that's getting replaced by a NIB M1225 and either a VX-4000 w/remote head or an Astro Spectra), and then a SM50 in the back for the tracker.

Is the body mount compatible with CB? I don't use a HAM or FM or anything like that. In Tennessee we have cell phones. That technology might not have made it to Texas yet!!! (I'm just kidding) but I only need an antenna for the little cheap-o cb I use on the trail.

Standard ball mount. Radio shack used to sell them. Don't know if they still do. Fits any antenna with 3/8x24 threads.

Yeah it's just a standard 102" whip on a ball mount. Now the ball mount and spring are heavy duty HUSTLER... I am feeding it with a ICOM antenna antenna tuner. It lets me use an inexpensive antenna for 40 meters through 6 meters. I just click the mic and a couple of seconds later SWR is tuned and I'm talking, or listening.

The down side to this mount is that when off road you have to be careful not to rip it off on something. It would have to be something big though.

HAM radio is a hobby but I also installed this HF/VHF/UHF radio as part of my hurricane escape vehicle strategy. Cell towers may be down (power or physically) in a disaster my setup is capable of world wide communications directly from my Jeep, and that includes while I'm moving to safety.

Of course you don't have to use a 102" whip you could put the firestik in there as well.

I prefer antennas to not be any longer than 48". Just me though. That's why I run the Larsen low band antenna on my XJ. NMO is a commercial mount that was initially designed by Motorola back in the 60's for roof and trunk application. The antennas and much lighter than fiberglass antennas and it translates to less stress on the mount for two reasons, weight and the moment is much closer to the mount compared to a typical CB antenna.
