Well kinda redudent to me but, i read the spec sheets, but I still cant find out what rear axel I have, what the best way to tell? i think i have the tow package which means may have the 44 but there the year works for me to have the c 8.8. one other thing on it does it have a c clip or not or how do you tell. either or how hard is it to do a rear disk brake swap and what is the best/cheapest way to do it?
thanks

There should be a metal tag on the left side of the rear diff cover held on by two of the cover bolts. Also a dana 35 will have a 35c stamped on the housing by the axle tube.

if it is a 44 it will look like a apple and if it is a 8.25 it will be flat on the bottom and the belst disc brake is you can get it off of a zj or you can call tera flex and get a complete kit.

Here is a link for axle identification. Just look at the cover on the center and refer to the chart.

i see that you have a 89 so i would say that you have either a d35 or the 44 they did not put the 8.25 in the xj tell 91 so i would say that you have a d35 my 88 had the tow package but it had a d35 tell i put it a 8.25. if that helps.

also i think i read some where that the 44s were mostly form 86 to 88 if you had the 2.5 motor and if you had the tow package on the 4.0 then it came with it.

What part of the above statement did you miss. The weather can't be that bad in FtSmith.

Well the great thing about having the 35 is you MUST change it. Which means 44, 8.25, or Ford (8.8?)
