Trying to find a good 3" lift for $150 for Christmas. I wanted to try and find something more than the shackles and spacers and was just checking to see if there was someone that had a line on a good one cheap. I will continue to read the posts and search. I am in Central Louisiana. Thanks.

You'll be hard-pressed to get more than shackles and spacers for $150 but if you're willing to take a trip to the junkyard you can get everything necessary for less than that. You will need:

V8 ZJ front coil springs=1-2'' lift (must be V8, 4.0L ZJ coils will not give lift)
Extra Coil spring isolator= 1/2'' lift
Both leaf packs from an s10/dakota or similar width leaf pack= can net anywhere 0~4.5'' lift depending on what leaf(s) you decide to use.

Should be able to get all of that for less than $100 then all you really need to worry about is shocks, relocating brakes lines, and maybe redrilling the axle side bracket of the trackbar to recenter the axle under your Jeep.

Now when you say you're looking for a 3" lift.. are you looking for a full setup including shocks for that pricing?? Or just looking to get a decent lift, then upgrade shocks at a later time?? Cause the cheapest pricing I could find for a 3" lift of any type was for an AAL type and it is still looking to be roughly $290 from Zone Offroad (http://zoneoffroad.com/display?ma=6&yr=1996&mo=9&ca=78) or Rocky Road Outfitters (http://www.rocky-road.com/xj-budget-lift.html) @ $299 Or I guess if you want to go with a better quality or better known company... Then you can look at Rough Country (http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-suspension-lift-kit-670-config.html) which is also an AAL lift but it is still still running $255 for it..

Was looking for a decent lift and I could upgrade shocks later. 3" gives the appearance of a slightly "lifted" vehicle but some of the 2" lifts still make the xj's look stock. Been lurking around looking at pics trying to get some ideas on what I want.

Here is a pic of mine after I did my junkyard lift (~2.5'') on 31x10.5x15 tires. It took a few trips but was able to get everything for it (including shocks) from the junkyard for less than $150.

That turned out really nice. You've given me something to think about. Thanks for the input.
