I bought this thing a while ago and never had the time to install it. Here is it installed but not 100 percent done. I need to drill out two holes and install 2 more bolts and either cut off some of the fender plastic stuff or remove it.

You can see the curve from when I rear ended someone.

While I was removing the bumper look at what I found!

So do you guys just trim these or just cut the plastic fender well stuff out?

So I ziptied the plactic ball thingy to the bumper but I think I should move it to a better spot. Where should I put it? Do I need it?

So I bought/found some parts after this build. That socket has been from North Carolina, Colorado, Arizona, Germany and back to Arizona.

So the receiver from the stock bumper I pulled off. Do you guys have a 'Pay it forward section'?

What do you all think? That curve bumper was a PIA to take off! I got it though. Some of my holes do not line up on the VF bumper due to the accident. Little tweaking and ill make it work. What should I do with the fog lights?

Trim the inner fender

I trimmed the rubber in there, and then used the excess that was left over to trim a piece out to fill the open hole. I just screwed it back up and it covers nicely. Also flipped the horns around in their mount to keep them up and out of the way. Who needs sunlight, Phone has a flash. Here is what I did. Might look a little sloppy from the pics, but when standing there looking from a straight on or side view you can't even tell it is there.

Shot a little bedliner down there to make sure everything was black and matched up and was good to go.

As far as the vacuum reservoir goes, I simply removed mine. Also pulled the line out that was connected to it and capped off that portion from the T connector. I haven't had any issues. Can engage cruise at 70mph with the A/C going and no issues, so I haven't bothered messing with it anymore. If it isn't broke...

I still can't figure out what to do with the dog lights. Thinking of wiring up an led bar across the top of mine and it tying it in to the fog light harnesses/switch somehow.

Btw that vanity plate will lower your horsepower by 53-71 HP :fyou:

Can I get a pic from the tire side on your horn setup?

I had to mount both of the a little different because of the length of the wiring harness, new location and position ect. Both horns function and I have yet to have issues with water being kicked off the tires into the horns. I'll think about relocating them if I ever start using my XJ as a boat, but how I have them now seems to work fine for me.

If you want better pictures let me know.

Thanks for the pics. That clears up where I thought you installed the bracket. All I did for now was flip my horn to the back side of the bracket but I plan to try to match yours.

Question though, is this a bad stop to mount this vacuum ball?

Nothing it really holding to down but it is wedged in there. I had to remove the tank to place the ball there and reinstall the tank.

Also, mods, can you relocate this to "My Build" section.

Why not

I don't see why it would be a bad spot to mount it if you wanted to keep it. I find no changes with eliminating it altogether. The only places in my engine bay I would have been able to mount it cleanly would have been on the other side of the engine bay.

Ya, that is what I ran into as well.

Would this bumper double as a steering box brace?
