so iv used these plugs in the army and had them on a race car once but had wires on both sides of plug and were ready to use...

i bought a 19pin plug for the pasngr door. if i can get that right il do all the doors so il have a quick release of all door wiring :bacondance:

BUT i have to get wire to the actual pins....??
after getting one in the mail and taking a closer look. i have no idea how i would attach wire to pin.
do i crimp (not much to crimp)
do i solder?(blunt connection though)

im not buyin any special $400 amphenol pliers.

basic pics for those that dont know.

I deal with tooling for these style of connectors quite frequently.
Although on my end of things its always finish work, assembly tooling, or QC type of stuff.
So the actual wiring has already been done. From what I have seen, you're going to have to solder. You'll need a fine tip solder gun, and I would expect to use some flux as well to make the job go a little easier.
Good luck.... and be sure to post up some pics once your done with whatever project your working on.

posting to subscribe. I want to do this to my doors so I can easily take them off on the trail. I really wish I didn't have power locks/windows to make things easier. really interested in how this works for you.

Just a note. If you do a little work, you can set this up for easy disconnect. There is a plug already there behind the kick panel.

Funny you should say you're thinking about using these, as I had thought about doing this as well, since I work with these types of connections almost every day at work on the aircraft... I've looked at them many times and thought about using them for disconnects of doors on my 98 prior to letting it go, and again with the 90XJ I have now..... Although I currently have the access to the special pliers, I'm thinking about future projects such as my "dream car" that I'll eventually get to build up for items such as engine & ECU connections, and by then I unfortunately won't have those pliers.. so look forward to seeing how you do yours and how it works out in the end...

I've been thinking about it lately as my door speakers up front don't work, passenger side lock doesn't work, and rear driver side & passenger window don't work from their respective switches. Lot of wiring needs fixed so I might as well do my plugs at same time. I'll wait for someone to go first though. Too many other things to work on first.
