So after I left camp this morning, ( I wanted to try some night photos but it was totally overcast all night) I passed by some nice scenery on my way to the Lone Warrior pictograph panel, then some more scenery on the way to Swasey's Cabin. The cabin was built by Joe Swasey back in 1921, he and his brothers, Sid, Charley, and Rod, ran cattle in the area decades before building the cabin. They slept in the open or in caves. They were pretty wild, one time Sid bet Charley that he could jump this 12 ft. wide canyon on horseback, the canyon was 80 ft. deep! The wager was for a small herd of cattle, and Sid won the bet. The site of this is called Sid's Leap. The rock formation behind the cabin is known as the broken cross. The last picture is a pic of their "icebox" which kept things pretty cool, even in the middle of summer, but it is about a 1/4 mile from the cabin.
