Well this morning I blew her up. She over heated and the dummy gauge never lit up. I noticed when the water covered the windshield and a white cloud was all i could see. The damage was done. Oil pouring from all the gaskets. Metal in the oil. So I just drove her to work. Ill pull her home tomorrow and start pulling the motor. Im going to get a long block.

Sorry to hear about that happening... Hope you are able to find a good deal on a long block? From what I hear the ones from AZ aren't too bad of a deal...

What is AZ? I hope for fear of looking silly, you don't mean AutoZone.

Man, I had no clue they sold rebuilt engines. Things ya learn everyday. Very cool. Best of luck to the OP.

Yeah they do, and depending on what you are buying said engine for, as far as if it's for a 4.0 for a Jeep or a Hemi for my truck... there might be other better sources... but as far as the 4.0, they seem to do pretty darn good for their deals...

Sorry to hear, that sucks! Good thing is, it'll be like driving a new jeep.

Also, it should be easy to swap out that cluster for a factory one with full gauges. I haven't done a '97+ but pretty sure its still a piece of cake.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

The swap on my '98 took less than 12 hours of actual wrench time. Could of had it pulled and put back in all in a day if I had that many free hours at once. You should have it done fairly quickly and it will hopefully be running like a top for you.

I ordered the long block yesterday. Should be here may 6th. I'm going jy hunting for the cluster and may be a 99 intake.

Yeah should be able to find a full custer fairly easily... and I'd def say might as well hit up a 99 intake while you're swapping everything out...

Yeah was going to ask if you were going to try actual gauges this time.

The only reason I hadn't swapped them was because of my mileage.

how many miles were on it? any modsn to it? taken care off?
mine runs kind of ruff even with upgraded injectors 156k miles.
wonder what kind of real super easy swaps there are for it?
v8s will fit but the 4.0 actualy makes decent power. a diesal swap would be bananas though
