Not really strange or new, but this seems to be the best section to post this. (Feel, free to move to a more appropriate section :) )
So what have you used/rated ?

What have you used/rated ?
I ordered a Griffen Survivor case ready for my iPhone 4S arriving 2 years ago. The phone was set up, and put straight into the survivor and has stayed there since. It's been removed from the case about 3 or 4 times to check for dust.
The survivor cases are a bit bulky and do add a bit of weight to the handset, that said, the phone has been dropped at the top of the stairs 3 times (didn't stop until it reached the bottom. No carpets) been run over by me in the wheelchair twice and numerous other small drops. So after 23 months this is how things look.
The case itself looks used, the protective screen in particular, but still works and you can still see the display fine.

It's been at least 6 months since the phones been out of the case, you can see there's minimal dust on the handset

And this is a 23 month old handset

Genuinely, there isn't a mark on the phone. :)
Would I recommend a Griffen survivor ? Yes. The flap to access the camera is a bit fiddly but that can be put up with given the protection the case gives.
For the upgrade to the 5S, I have a Gorilla glass case on order. Watch this space. :)

I have my 5S in a Spigen Tough Armor case. People look at it and laugh thinking something so slim wouldn't protect the phone, but I've ran it over with a forklift, four wheeler, it's flew out of my pocket at 60+ on the four wheeler and bounced down the road! Stepped on it, ect. and it has all the scratches and scuffs while my phone has been fine.

It isn't waterproof and I take it off from time to time to hit they dust with the air compressor, but I love it. It doesn't come with a screen protector, but I opted for their GLAS.tR NANO SLIM cover and have nothing but praise for it. It is slim enough and just as responsive as if nothing were there you think nothing is on the screen. It doesn't collect fingerprints and is made of glass. Witchcraft, I know. Cool thing when I bought it they had a deal going where if your screen cracked while it had this screen protector on they would replace your phone. No problems yet and the added security of knowing I get a free replacement let me forgo phone insurance or AppleCare.

I guess my one complaint is that it fits tight enough around the headphone/aux port that when I try to connect an aux cord to use my phone for music in my Jeep I have to peel the case back a bit. Might be my aux cord, because all the different headphones I have connect fine.

I apologize for the crappy iPad pics, but my phone is my primary camera.

I use an otterbox defender. It's big and clunky but does a good job. I usually clip it to my belt. My chief smartphone killer seems to be water. I dropped one in the lake, never to be seen again. and jumped in with it clipped to my waist. Now when I'm on the boat I leave it in the truck.
Sidenote: Iphones don't float

My Note 3 lives in an Otterbox Defender, my Nexus 7 in a Sedio Dilex

Otterbox, as well. Fortunately, haven't found a need to test it's durability, too much.

I use otterbox on my samsung. Since I work over the water I don't use the micky mouse clip in holder. I found a pouch from Nite Ize that will not come off my belt and it velcro's shut. Now if I fall in the water I'll have a different problem.

Not sure how attached you are to Samsung (I am, I love my Samsung) but my wife has the Sony Xperia Z and it's water proof for up to like 20 meters or something like that. However, there is one of the Samsung Galaxy S4's from one of the mobile carriers that is water proof too. I think it's Verizon.

I don't like the clip either but suffered it. I just ordered a nite ize case from amazon. Thanks for the tip.

Mine is a galaxy s4 Verizon, it's not waterproof, so you're saying they make it in a waterproof version?

They do make a "Sport" version of the galaxy that is water resistant. I think it is for AT&T.

I almost went with the new Sony Experia Z this last time around for the camera and water resistant part. The screen and UI were junk though. Still keeping my hopes up for something awesome down the road. Until then I'll stick with my iPhones.

I like Samsung's ui the best, but the xperia z has the same screens that the super hd Sony Bravia tv's have and it's amazing.

From what I have seen of the screen it has a beautiful picture from straight on, but like the TVs the viewing angle isn't great. Which I know is being super knit picky. Although, if I'm buried alive in a coffin and my phone is down by my waist and I can't make out what is on the screen to check Tapatalk to see what's on xjtalk forum one last time I may die with regrets :p

Samsung UI might not be bad if it didn't come with carrier bloatware, and if half the features weren't gimmicky. I think my ideal phone would be HTC TouchSense UI with Apple hardware and a Note sized screen. If the new iPhone comes in 5.5" screen like they are saying I'll have 2 out of 3. Only problem then is finding jeans with bigger pockets as I'm not sure how well phablet will fit in my pants. It would allow me though to cut out the iPad mini from my collection.

I tried the Note 3 for awhile, but phones with plastic just feel cheap to me and I found the gimmicks more gimmicky rather than useful. The bigger these phones are getting though we'll be able to use laptop bags for protection over phone cases soon.

I have a Ballistic case on my S3, and love it.. But I def am wanting to pick up the S4 Active when I'm available for upgrade, that way I don't have to worry about it getting messed up when I go kayaking or wheeling!!

I have the T Mobile t399 or LTE , I bought it thinking it was a new model and I would be able to get a good case for it, Sadly not true, only cheap cases on Amazon or expensive cheap cases form Samsung. I really like phone , it does everything I want/ need in a phone but finding decent protection for it ????

New iphone 5s arrived and went straight into the gorilla case, and 15 minutes later, came back out again !
I have low signal in the main room of the house, always have had, unfortunately as the gorilla case has an aluminum skeleton, it was enough to totally block the low signal.
Back to the Griffen survivor case. They've changed the design, and they now come with a spare screen cover. They've also redesigned the camera flap, it now rotates out of the way. A much better set up,mas the older type you had to hold the flap clear of the camera, and to be honest it was a right pain in the ass. As usual there's also a removable belt clip.

I have used the case from Lifeproof on my iphone 4S for a while now. Waterproof, shock proof, dustproof. I ran over my phone w/ a skid steer, its been in water, construction sites etc., & my phone hasn't got a scratch. Only case for this guy.

My brother uses Otter Box for his Iphone 5, it's really nice, 2 tons of crushing force, I believe, waterproof for up to 15? Feet? *check me* it's basically a Jeep in case form.

Another vote for Lifeproof, I switched from Otterbox to Lifeproof for an iPhone4s after using Otterbox since the Blackberry days.

I am now using a Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro...it's only a dual core phone, but its the right size for a rugged phone, the newer phones are just too large.

I have not found exterior Armor I like, so I am making do with a IQ Shield screen protector, and the Maxpedition Smart Phone holster.

got an O'box on my S3. It survived my dog chewing on it for a little while. Bought the "commuter" case for an old phone, it didn't last long.

Just got the S5 active. It claims to be shockproof and waterproof right out of the box. Can sit in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes with NO CASE. Haven't tested it and probably wont. Probably won't be long before it gets dropped in the hot tub. I'll report back with my findings

Screen protector is tempered glass and just a rubber surround for case

I have the Incipio for my S4. Is ok. Is very sturdy, and fully waterproof. Problems are you can't talk on the phone. I was more concerned with ruggedness over waterproof, so I drilled or the microphone hole, and now people can hear me. Speaker phone is pretty much useless though unless you have it plugged in to some other speaker, like car radio, then it works Ok. It is pretty big, too. But I have dropped a bunch and it's definitely tough!
