We have water that we keep cold in the fridge in the back that runs off my inverter plus a couple of 2.5 gal water containers with the rest of the gear for camping purposes

The poly pipe, generally works pretty good. I used it on a few of my past 40 series tojos and Landies.

Used to be fairly common down here a while back ... but the trend now seems to be, to use poly tanks designed to fit in rear footwells, vertical ones that fit behind the rear seats ... or under vehicle versions.

Personally tho, I prefer 5gal water jerries for extended camping .... they make for extra camp stools,
.... and you can carry them to a water supply to refill, if nescesary.

For day trips, I normally just throw in a 2gal container alonside the pikinic basket .. :D

I use gallon jugs you get from the store with a bungee strap though the handles.

When I go camping or on multi-day wheeling adventures, I take a couple of these:
7Gal Fresh water... tough, durable, cheap.

In my 79 Grand Prix I bought a new washer fluid bottle and pump and wired a push button switch and it dispensed rum from my glove box. Sure there is a way to rig the pump to a larger jug and have it come out in a convenient location.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but at least it is from this year. How do the Aqua-tainers hold up to UV and general heat? Am looking for a solution to keep water in the jeep pretty much permanently for both emergency and recreational use and my search so far has led me to the Aqua-tainers.

I carry one or two of these depending on how long I'm going to be out and how many people are going.

I've got a shopping cart put together on Home Depot's website for a roofrack mounted setup that would provide me with 4.6 gallons of hot pressurized water at campsites for use in showering, dishes ect. Something like in the first picture.

There is a pre-made option for those who do not want to build their own but have money to spend. My setup is about 130 dollars in materials plus my time.

Showering isn't really on my radar, at least not yet as I already go on week long backpacking trips in the wilderness so showering doesn't really bother me, I just have a baby wipe sponge bath when needed.

How long do you keep water in your Scepter? I thought I read they were for short term use only? I'm looking for a more permanent solution that I will be able to plan my cargo area storage rack around so the jeep is pretty much ready to go camping without having to grab a thing.

this would work but i lay my seat down alot and i would end up gouging it.

4" cap with $7 spiggot.
weird angle but allows nob to spin.
tightly screwed in and expoxied.
just need 5-6ft of 4" pvc and start on baffles and then a cap.
to fill just spin tube upward in its clamps, then close and spin back.

As mentioned before, it is a simple PVC 6" pipe.
A plumber made it for me (welded the sidewalls of it and the tap)
