here is my 98. completely stock minus some lights on bumper not wired up.
its needs alot of attention and help

once i get this stupid photobucket work :P i can post pics.

my plan was rip out all plastic and carpet behind rear seat and bedliner.
upon removal...floor is rotting out:mad:
il use a real camera and not my phone for this build.
i have to take the wirewheel to alot of things cleaning up the rust and repainting to preserve soem things.

jeep will be used for hunting/exploring and camping.
i have a gas mig welder and il be using it :D

Sounds good. Not an expert on posting pics using the phone. But Photobucket has an app for the phone that works well. Makes uploading from the phone easy

That rusted area in the bottom of the rear quarter panel? I had the same problem with mine, ended up cutting it all out and welding in a plate to make it equivalent to the cut and fold mod.

I second using the photobucket app. I use it all the time. Easy peasy.

It is a lot of work but takes care of that rust pretty good and now you can get a rear bumper that's made for better clearance.

went to put on new rotors and pads and this is what i found.

scraped off all the clay and found that the ball joints have play in them. dust sheild was so rusted it just fell off when i took the old rotor off. pads were gone and cracked.
one caliper has a cracked/broken pistons(works anyways)

so since i had access that day to shop tools i attacked the rear qrtrs

knowing me though. wheelbearings/ball joints/shocks/springs/endlinks. tie bar. everything will end up getting wire wheeled/painted or replaced or upgraded.

im working for a guy for a set of $700 mud tires 31" thats why the fender trim already.
lift kit in the future but not with the amount of maintence it needs first. back tires are bald right now. just got my upgrade injectors in the mail today woooooooot

removed front bumper plastics and removed vacuum ball. and plugged the hole on the valve cover. made no difference in drive or idle at all

$20 each for seats. i bought they. real clean actualy. manual movement. iv swapped the driver side out so far. after back surgery i couldnt do the cheap racign seats :boohoo:

did the cut and fold mod. took all day cutting and welding. (only 1 side :/ so far
super ghetto. but its folded and closed up completely.

also after removing the fender flares, it was so rusted the wheel well and fender had a gaping hole. so i made a patch, welded it and sprayed bedliner(will be covered up with new fancy fender flares)

then i removed the 2 front doors. cut the holding pin and restraint pin.

my solution for the door wiring. not sure about the back yet but the front passenger door has 19 wires. driver door has 20 wires. 92-95 honda civic shock tower plugs are almost that size. could do 2 plugs if need be.
hopefully i can just depin them and repin in new plugs.(prolly not)
the 12mm bolts i used being a tad loose. iv tighten the hinge bolts as high as i can but they still bump when trying to shut,
they shut but its kinda annoying. the loose pin bolts give slack. but easier to pull out if i have to. theres a cheap hardware store here that sells the zinc plated pins with locking things on them. il buy some today after work and see if thats better

Half doors looking good... Somehow started looking at pics from the bottom of the thread up... and the first one from the outside that showed the fabric on the top edge, I was thinking that it looked like the material from a duffel... Looks like an awesome build, and will look even better once you get the seems sealed up and the material hemmed and grommeted.. Maybe one day I'll get to trying this on mine..

it is pretty ugly. but its nice out i couldnt wait to get the door on lol.
its so much work. and thats only 1 door so far.
today il get the hindges drlled out so i dont have to keep taking them off.
mother inlaw will be hemming door material.
got more argon today. small 25cf tank $29(refill)
i need to get a 3.5" hole saw also to make cup holders.
the striker, il drillnew holes into the door jam
so when i swap back to the orginal doors il just bolt the striker back 1.5" lower to original place

Sounds like a lot of similar issues I had with my lift replacement/upgrade... I also had to joint the cut panels in the cargo floor group... I also did the BPE's, so at least won't have to do that again... was thinking about how to make the panel removable and still bed line my XJ floor.. but then remembered I did the BPE's, so won't hopefully need it to be removable... Looking like good progress.. and I'd say the wobbled out hole probably is a good reason for your DW on top of the jacked UCA bushing @ the axle!!

what a nightmare. FLCAs. i bought new oem WJ ones.
they are like .10" of an inch shorter not much. but il adjust with the caster deal which is about 1/2".
had to cut off the caster bolts. drill and hammer the carriage bolt top. use new bolts
had to cut off both rear bolts and used torch and bang out cut bolts. front bolts came out nice....kinda
FOUND DEATH WOBBLE PROBLEM yaayayay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
right side, body side of flca. poly bushing wobbled around like an egg in a bowl.
the UCA was replaced and had a bad bushing.
POLY bushings are junk after so long.
ran out of daylight and time. i wanted to spend time with my son before he went to sleep.
today il put the new ones on
