You can clearly see how bad the one spacer was. These original spacers were just rubber. I replaced them with polyurethane that I bought on Ebay. $13 each and they worked out great. Took it for a nice little test drive. The right side seems to ride an ever so sliver higher , back into it's normal position. The front end seems a bit more bouncy. Especially now that new working parts are installed.

I'm so proud of myself!!!!!

So how much did I save in labor. Someone give me a guess.
Regular mechanic price $$$$
Dealer price$$$$$

Next in line for the summer is the rear leaf springs then the front brush guard.

Ya know my spoiled rotten son is going to have this jeep as his daily driver in 4 years, right after its all fixed up.
Tranny still running great, smooth shifting.

How much did you save? Probably about $400 on that job. Congrats

400 in savings, Wow, that was an easy job. I even bought a $10 can of the good stuff rust prevention, corrosion prevention undercoating and sprayed both wheel wells. Wow!!!

That would be an average price. Figure $100 an hour or better for shop labor

Wow, I though $300 but if they are really charging $100 an hour now then $400 sounds right.

I wonder how much they would charge to replace the leafs on the rear. Its only about 3 bolts on each side. Not that hard.

Depends on rust, but figure on two hours of labor.

No rust, everything came out just fine. I did have one bolt that is stripped and I am going to get a replacement on Monday, it holds the spring clip in place.

Not bad.

I'm a sliver worried that I won't get that spring clip back in, even with a new bolt. But I will find out. ACE sells grade 8 bolts so that should be fine.

Robert, don't use a grade 8 bolt. It is brittle and will break. Use a real center pin (bolt) that is designed for that. They cost about $2 - 3 but are necessary

Dude congrats! Like Steve stated. $100 an hour is prett on par. You can assume 90-120 an hr at most indie garages. Dealer even more. Hit up anyone on here for advise in the future. My mom always told me, "They're only nuts & bolts!"

Nice work! Not an easy job either, so kudos for showing it who's boss.

Well I didn't think it was that hard to do. I actually watched two youtube videos on how to do it so I had a good idea. I just went slow, and took my time.
I'm proud of myself.

Aren't grade 8 bolts for this sort of thing? IF I can't use these where can I buy a new bolt?

I'm kinda shocked at how bad the old spacer was, it was just shredded. Crazy.
Thanks

Steve, are you talking about the leaf spring center bolt? I think he's having a problem with the coil spring retainer bracket bolt. I could be wrong but that's how i'm reading it.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

Yep, that small 2 inch clip at the bottom of the spring locking it into place. That bolt has stripped.

Like in this pic, see the bolt

Oops, sorry. I understood you to be talking about the center bolt. Yes, any grade bolt will work there

Awesome.

I can't tell you how easy this was for me to do!!!!!!

So if I can do this, is it possible for me to replace the leaf on the rear both sides? Without to much difficulty?

Probably so
