I did a quick search for gearbox spacer and didn't see a DIY fix.
So here goes mine. I pulled out the gearbox to replace the seals before the small drip turned into a major leak. The spacer in between the box and frame was rotten just fell apart. After looking at the after market spacers and the cost, I figured that looks like something I could do. If not I can always order one. I think it turned out pretty good unfortunately I did not get any photos of the part cleaned and painted ( Caterpillar yellow ). When I do me track bar this weekend I'll try to get some pics of it installed.
Picked all parts from me local hardware store, 1/8 x 1/2 inch weldable flat steel and three grade 8 nuts. I made sure the nuts were large enough to allow a little play for the bolts. Using the gearbox as the template I lined up the nuts and steel took it to the bench and tacked together checking each nut after tacking, rinse and repeat. I still need more practice with my buzz box, It's been a while. Total cost about $7 including a soda and 2 bags of pop rocks for the kids.

Not too shabby! Love it when people take the initiative to make something themselves over buying it.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

No, my phone was DEAD and I had no way to get pics. I used nuts like you did although I put it on a single piece of flat steel similar to the JCR spacer, worked great. Thanks for the idea.

I've thought of doing something similar, but as I don't know how to weld, and would have to buy a welder.. it is cheaper for me to purchase one for now... Glad to see some smart thinking being put towards the Jeep builds though!!

Great job. I did the samething when I installed my bumper. The spacer just crumbled. I cut a plate out of flat stock and welded stacked washers to the plate..
