Are there any ignition upgrades out there for our 2001 Jeeps?

The 2001 XJ is a distributorless ignition system, so I think something like an HEI system is not available.
There IS a MSD ignition control module (http://www.carid.com/2001-jeep-cherokee-ignition-systems/msd-ignition-control-module-13954472.html?CAWELAID=120019970004292744&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CKPg05u32LwCFc5DMgodhEkArg) that will give you adjustable rev limiter settings, and potentially smooth out idle, and provide quicker throttle response.

Of course you would want to upgrade the wires to get the most out of it.

This is of course all theoretical, ...and out of all the Jeeps I've seen, I've never seen an MSD set up on a late model. (might be a reason - I dunno)
...but something tells me the $650-$700 price tag has something to do with that.

NW99XJ is right I have a 2000 and been checking things out. that is the only
thing so far that is out of box. I'm looking in to using a coil out of a dodge viper v-10 they us 2 coils a 6 and 4 post coil and uses the same wiring as the coilpack the jeep uses. But it is not bolt to the head you have to us plug wirers but the coil is away from the heat and easyer to carry a spare.

Oh man, if you could do a dyno test before and after this mod, I think there would be a LOT of people interested in the results.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents on this. Just about all MSD products are built to enhance non electronic ignition systems. Why? Because there is room for improvement and it works. Detroit took a look at this and in an effort to satisfy CAFE standards incorporated longer and hotter spark into the standard electronics. Also the 4.0 does not respond well to too much spark. That is why they run better on copper plugs. So I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

my thoughts is a small coil that fit under the seat is easyer to carry than that long coil pack.
