The easiest swap is the Camaro 3.4 which has various hp ratings up to 160 hp. Those will bolt in. A 4.3 ia much harder

Yes. Be sure to use the 3.4 fly wheel or flex plate. They are balanced differently

just curious why you would want to use a 3.4? What is in your rig now?

The 2.8l was the top option in the xj from '84 to '86, thankfully it didn't make the cut in '87 when the 4.0l came into the line up.

If you use this motor nicer looking valve covers and a better flowing intake and a holley throttle body and be found on a 1985-1988 Fiero 2M6 or GT.

What you have is a 60 degree v6 from Chevy. Your only upgrade option is the 3.4 out of a Camaro to have a "bolt in solution"

A 3.1 is a bored out 2.8 and the 2.8 works with the bell housing of the 3.4. With the parts you could sell from the camaro on eBay and craigslist and the money for scrap on the rest I can't see how you'd loose. Best way to see if intake works is see if they use the same gaskets.
