Hey, as I'm figuring out all the little problems with my '89 4.0L Cherokee, I have noticed a strong gasoline smell in my oil. I changed the spark plugs and oil right away but I haven't found anything yet. Any ideas? There are no misfires, sputters, anything like that.
Thanks for any help

I've only had it for a couple months and I've driven it regularly since then.

Usually that smell is the result of a leaky carburator. But you don't have one. I would suggest you change the oil and see what happens

Ok, thanks! I'll post any updates. I've been looking into injector replacement…could that be it?

Possibly. But let's see what happens with the oil change first.

Ok, new oil, oil filter adapter gasket, updated oil filter adapter thread, and new filter. What should I be looking for now?

To see if that smell returns. If it does, then you probably have a leaky injector.
