So most of you know this car what a b-day present for my dad in 1999. I liked the car so much I bought one for myself to restore. So 10 years go by and we both collected parts to restore "our cars". Well sadly cancer took my dad 5 years ago and one of his wishes was for his car to go to me. So at that point my car became a parts car and his would get all the good stuff. So I made a deal with a local shop/personal friend (hurricane Katrina time frame) That I would trade him my 72 Datsun 240z for the work on the Alpine. So fast forward to now the car was in a dormant state due to his job transferring him over seas for 2 years. So here are a few pics from start to current state (like 2 week time frame)

Well this Friday I was able to mod and test fit the new radiator. The trimming in was held off for that and another car that needed to get out of the shop. On a side note since we decided to lower the car a tad up front. I picked up some tires so we can get the proper stance.

So I got a chance to borrow a knock out punch to continue the harness install. I think it will come out to be a real clean installation.

Sunbeam is coming along nicely... The MGB will be an awesome ride once you are able to get to it... I almost picked up a MG convertible to rebuild, but the guy wanted too much for the shape that it was in (unfortunately NE cars don't fair so well rust wise as the TX ones do)... Saw a MGB GT there other day that someone had done a good job restoring a few years back, but was still in pretty nice shape...

no worries its on the chopping block too. The goal is to have it blasted in January along with my buddys 73 f100 cab (crown vic repowered truck)

Either way I think the Miata power plant will def be a more reliable and better option the the Nissan A14 in the MGB... Look forward to seeing both of these projects progress...

So I did some test fitting today and the top clears the era specific roll bar

Ahh that makes sense.. Was going to say if you were going to put it out on the track ere and there to see if you could weld in some diagonal bars on the roll bar to strengthen it up a bit before you put it all in and can't get it out easily... But either way she's looking good, and can't wait to to see it continue to progress..

I've been slacking on the Alpine a bit ,but thanks to Jake we got quite a bit off the bucket list

1. All brakes rebuilt
2. SS brake lines installed
3. Battery terminal/battery box cleaned up
4. Brake Master connected to Brake peddle
5. wheel bearing repacked

So it's been a while since I've given a update in the progress so here we go.

1. Brakes are complete all four corners rebuilt and rotor and drums turned
2. She is alive and i've driven it around the block (first time since 1999 its moved under its own power)
3. Numerous parts sent to the rechromer (Speed Sport Chrome in Houston)
4. I now have working blinklers,running lights,brake lights,and headlights running on the miata harness
5. Some interior has been installed (went with Tan from rootes.com

So Fathers day weekend the Alpine made it's first trip around the block all on its own.

Items i got resolved this weekend

1. Factory blinker stock modded to the Miata harness
2. Windsheild wiper harness built ( i think the wiper motor is bad)
3. Lights :) the car now has high and low beam working with the dash switch
4. Factory ignition its starting on the original key
5. Make shift exhaust (to keep "other folks happy")
6. Working horn
7. Temp dash installed to clean up wiring

That z was actually Matt's at one time, I believe lol. Bob's place is pretty sweet... he also has a nice scrambler, a badass scout, camaro, mg's, etc, etc

Thought it might tighten up a bit in the heat... from what little bit of research I've done when I was looking at having to replace the top on my MR2... but couldn't remember for sure... Glad to hear and see that she tightened up!!

I still have the luggage rack to rechrome (400$) and the steering wheel (maybe this winter if i choose to park it for a bit)

So far i have 350 miles on the car and its a hoot to take out. It has become my parts runner (new and clean parts) :bacondance::bacondance:
