But I just found these, circa 1972 pics, someone posted recently ... and figured they were too good to pass up.

Thanks Carves. Loved those pics of the steam coach. Trains are another hobby I don't have enough time for. Here is a couple from the same railroad, the Virginia-Truckee. Richest shortline in the US and source of all the old trains in the western movies filmed in the US. Both were were powered by gas engines

amusing too ....

Hardly a 4x4 in sight, in that blokes photos ... and yet today ... now that roads, conditions and services are better ... Most everybody, needs a Toyota LandBarge or something ... to get about the place .. :smiley-laughing021:

No baseball caps either .. :rolleye0012:

ahhhh .... those were the days .. :D

Both were were powered by gas engines

Old School Trains ..

We had quite of few of those truck based, petrol "RailMotors" down here.

Now that the line has finally been finished from Adelaide to Darwin ... Only took 80 odd years .. .... " The Ghan" ... is a proper train.

Our rail network is a bit ... ummm .... ordinary ?? ... and theres still a few railmotors on the go .. :smiley-laughing021:

The last time I saw the wedge shaped one, it was nothing but a rusting tin shell. They appear to be restoring it. I suspect it will make the Carson to Virginia run one of these days

Wow. I love all the cars. Cortinas everywhere, Mini panel, VW bus, there's even a 300SL parked outside the bar! So cool.
