OK guys i want your opinions on getting this jeep for a playtoy.
http://easttexas.craigslist.org/cto/4268277007.html
the guy orginally wanted 1300. came down to 1k. i finally called him up and he said it needs a rear driveshaft and window. driveshaft is 219 or 250 plus 50 core at o reillys. the owner said the driveshaft just shattered going down the road which i find VERY hard to believe. i asked him would he come off anymore and he said no at first then said 800 cash takes it. then today hes saying 600. what i want to know is it even worth just getting as a playtoy and taking my chances on it. to me something is screaming wrong. i wouldnt get it as a DD but for a play rig if i find something wrong with it it can sit till i can fix it. the 4x4 works he said you can drive it in 4x4 to load it or whatever. IDK though. what do yall think?

You will want to get rid of that ABS set up and go to standard brakes. No biggie. Get all the parts at a pick and pull including the driveline for $100

yeah but several things bother me. coming off the price so much so quick. especially with all the new parts and a driveline dont just shatter going down the road

$600 for a running xj isn't to bad. Check the expensive stuff out real good even at that price you could get upside down quick.

Have you looked at the rig I'm selling?

HAHA your right, THAT is the question.

Here's another really good question...at $1700 plus a fuel pump ($100 generally) Ray's Jeep is a smoking deal and is already a perfect playtoy. Will your wife buy it for me? LOL Mine won't...she says I've got enough toys, as if there's any such thing!:bang::smiley-laughing021:

Women just dont understand. i tried going that route with her of well its already set up etc etc etc. she took one look and said where are the doors, the back roof, where would the kids sit, where would you keep it. i said in the back yard she said oh hell no. LOL i have to do some more talking

When I bought my 'vette last summer I was looking for a "project". The one I ended up with was several thousand $$ over my budget, only it needed NOTHING except gas and a heavy right foot. My wife was with me when I was looking at it and asked how much did I think I would spend on a "fixer" vs. buying one already done. I drove the finished one home, much cheaper than building from scratch. HOWEVER, that was a corvette that I wanted to DRIVE not work on. Half the fun of off roading is "the build"!!! Starting from scratch can be fun IF you have the time, money, and facilities to do it without a lot of stress.

As usual that's my 2 cents worth of opinion.
