So this weekend, I decided to replace the blown shocks on the rear of ol Cheapokee. Someday this has to get easier.
We'll start by shearing the bolt off both bottom mounts, "oh what to do" originally thought the only thing I had to break were the welds holding the bar pins to the top of the jeep, turns out, an air chisel made quick work of that.
After getting the old shocks off, I installed my new rough country bar pin eliminators. But now what to do with my freshly sheared bottom mounts? Grind the head of the pin smooth, bore a hole through the middle, retap for a bolt. Hey, it worked great.
After all the fabrication, my new rough country n2 hydro shocks went right up.
New problem though, while in the air I noticed both my leaf springs are sheared in the middle spring, guess what I get to do next? anyone have any experience with the bastard assembly I saw on you tube?
For now, the jeep isn't bouncing, isn't floating, isn't swaying so much, that part I'm digging.
My phone I'd having issues uploading my photo diary st the moment, pics to come

Looks like that add a leaf broke on you. The next pod cast will have a Jeep Tip on Bastard packs. If you have questions after you listen to it then we can address them.

It's been a long week. Haven't had ol Cheapokee goin on 6 days now. Though I got her put in the shop for my new suspension kit, every damn bolt, nut, u bolts, were so rusted, most snapped. Got both diffs serviced already and the front end was done Friday. Almost that is, gonna have to buy new tie rod, for mine is bent slightly enough we can't pull the tire rod ends to replace. My gear heads at the shop were having a hell of time with the rear leafs, but seeing as how I put new shocks and bar pin eliminators earlier this year, the rear shocks went up no problem. I am excited however top get all thehttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/ry7e5e3e.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/saty5uhe.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/e8eruzu6.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/e7amydem.jpg Frankenstein parts out from under her, and just the new stuff put 2 more inches back on my height. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/generesu.jpg

Glad to hear the ole Cheapokee is still going strong.. You'll enjoy the 2" of added height back too.. And at least now you'll know the suspension is good to go and the tie rod components are good...

Thanx James, but almost on the steering components, have to order the kit first. I'm looking at the rough country h/d tie rod, h/d ends, and for shits and grins, the rough country track bar kit just to totally clean up that front end. Looks like I'll only drop under $400 on the parts
