I found another crawler project for sale on the cheap, I'm wondering what this front axle is. Anyone??

Early closed knuckle D44. 6 bolt pattern is a problem for me though. I would say Ford otherwise

Is it any good? It has a 14 bolt on the rear with adapters for the same wheel pattern (8 bolt GM to the wheel that's shown).

They are good. Axle shaft is not quite as strong as the open knuckle, but plenty good. Takes all the same D44 parts. Maintain the seals on the knuckles and it will be good in mud. No mud or water in the housing. Brakes could be anything. However axle shaft spline count is probably either 10 or 19

Looks a bit like a DANA 70... Perhaps an 80? It does not apear to have the raised area
around the filler like the 44... so?

Hope that helps!

Ray, just curious, whats one of the crawlers go for "on the cheap"? looks like a lot of fun... and no I'm not in the market, so I won't be calling on it...

I heard they want a couple of G for that one, no power train at all. I'm interested in the tires, then part out the rest. Those 44" tires cost 3k to 4k per set, I'd like to have a backup set in case I tear one up.
