Just curiosity more than anything. Since it's January and I can't take mine out. Here's mine. Don't mind the commentary.

Not with the weather y'all are having. I've been riding since 87', but I've had 7 bikes stolen. I just gave my leathers to a good friend the other day. All crotch rockets though. Had a Shovel Head a long time ago. I've got my eye on a Triumph Tiger 800XC though. Hopefully I score a better payin job to fund this want.

I ride an sv650 it is a fun little bike. Before this I had a bmw which was o.k. but I do like the suzuki better. And I have a little tw200 trail bike. I have always had something since I started riding back in the 60's. I would like to get a speed triple or maybe a street triple, if I can talk the wife into it. Which is about as likely as my winning the lottery, ha!

I don't have one, but if I ever did get one I'd get one like this so the whole family can enjoy the ride.

I'd love to pick up a bike one day or even better put one together... I've always been a cruiser, but not a full dress type person.. I'll most likely either end up picking up an 883 Sportster and do a few upgrades to it, to include new upgraded jugs, pistons and a few other upgrades to bring it to a 1200+CC bike but still have the insurance of a 900-cc bike, not to mention still cheaper and not stock then just picking up a 1200cc bike in the first place.. But that will have to wait a while till I have the spare change!!

Some of us may have gotten older and wiser .. ;);)

Had quite a few back in the day ... a mix of honda scooters and trikes on the farms, several dirt squirters from 250cc - 600cc, road bikes from 350cc - 1000cc

Out of all of them ... I think I miss these the most ...

That 1200 Sportster with 883 heads on it is an animal. I didn't really think I'd be the bagger type either but after riding with no fairing or windshield and getting the bagger I wonder why I waited so long. I'm 33 years old with a full bagger. My dad rides a heritage soft tail and he wants me to trade with him.

The SV650 is a blast to ride, it won't peel your ears back on take off but it is a great lightweight sport bike. I've owned 2 different TW200 Yamaha's, I loved both of them, made for awesome commuter bike that you could just blast off down any trail.

I sold my last bike 7 years ago. I've scraped to many riders off the ground where I live and had too many near misses. I couldn't stomach the ride any more as much as I loved it. I've ridden since I was 5 y.o.

Nice to see that you agree with me on my choice of bikes Ray. I don't get to ride as much as I would like to, but I would hate to be without the bikes, and I don't think it's as dangerous riding around here as it is there, except for deer, but I try not to ride in the mountains after dark.

I never got a license, but I used to ride about 10 years ago from time to time. I had been eyeing a Yamaha Virago XV700 for sale at a local repair shop. It had a center stand and a kick stand and I tried to get it on its center stand and failed. Got off the bike and realized I forgot to put the kickstand down and the bike went over. I caught it about 8 inches off the ground and ended up dislocating my right shoulder... but I saved the bike lol. I also bought a CBR 1100 for about $475 when a cousin of a friend needed bail money (dumbass) and ended up getting a tailpipe scar on my calf. Too much bike for me anyways so I sold it back to him after a week.

I've been eyeing some of the Sportsters out there. I really like the Iron 883 and the Sportster Super Low 1200, but a bike isn't really in the plans any time soon. Wouldn't work for me to DD it and I don't know how much I want to ride it around the Houston streets anyways. Maybe if I move further from the city I will buy one as a weekend rider.

My last one was a fully restored Suzuki Madura 1200. There were a limited 5099 produced from 1985 to 1986 after which they change to some other model. The Madura was capable of 11 sec quarter mile stock, pretty fast back in the 80's!

Those are great bikes. I had a early model GS500 (little cousin to the SV's) before I got the Katana.... I've been toying around with the idea of getting an SV1000..... been wanting a litre bike for a little while now, and I like the riding position of the SV's a little better.

I've had several bikes through the years, mostly dirt bikes from 50's to 250's. Just got rid of a "honda style" 100 that I rode around my job sites for a 110 Lincoln MIG welder. My favorite street bike I've ever owned was the infamous Suzuki SV650. What a rocket! Thats what I was riding when a dude hit me & I ended up loosing my arm. Someday I planning on building another SV that I can operate 1 handed and if it works well I'd like to build a cruiser for my wife & I.

Only pics I have of my SV.http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h106/jruzich43/sv1.jpghttp://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h106/jruzich43/sv2.jpg

Shoot, judging by his build thread he's doing just fine! I think I'd need at least 4 arms to do what he does with just one! :patriot:

Not to make light of the situation by any means, I can't imagine the emotional and physical struggles that you've been through Jonathon.

Don't have to feel bad for me, I don't! I'd not be the man I am today without it. And I know your not Abe, I appreciate the compliments you've given me. It's been an uphill battle but the moment I decided to not make it about me was when it changed forever, I just hope my life can be a positive influence for others. It may sound cliche or cheesy but man it just feels way to good to be alive than to worry about all the what ifs or be angry, God has been good to me.

Ok, off soapbox; let's see some more pics!

ETXXJ89
01-28-2014, 11:49 AM
not to get you on soapbox again but you do own the guy that hit you right? a buddy of mine got hit by a drunk driver one night in Houston. Turns out the driver was a defense attorney....needless to say my buddy owns him now. Although, that does not make up for him not being able to walk right ever again or being able to pick his kids up ever again. he can lift a maximum of 15 pounds, something about pinched and damaged spine and nerves to risky to operate...not sure he doesnt talk about it too much.

OneArmArrowSlinger
01-29-2014, 10:03 AM
Sounds like your friend got it worse than I did and since the other dude was drunk, he should own him. I got what I could out of him. I sued, went to court, settled with him because I didn't feel it would be the right thing as a Christian and a man to leave him destitute since it was an accident, he wasn't drunk, just made a mistake. How many times have we all been behind the wheel, looked at the radio or a passenger, and narrowly missed a similar event by split seconds? I think it would be safe to say all of us that have spent any time behind the wheel of a vehicle. Thing is, when you know them beforehand and live in a small community, you'll always be in contact with these people. He's remorseful, taken responsibility, paid what he could and we've both moved on. I harbor no ill will toward the man and I only wish the best for him and his family, breaking the man would accomplish nothing. I'll be ok, life is good, God is better!:bacondance:

Whew. Where do I start. I've been riding for a little over 13 years now. Mostly stick to bikes like Standards, Sport Tourers, and Dual Sport/Adventure bikes.

My first bike was a 2000 Suzuki Bandit 1200S before they went to the "Bug Eye" model.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t1.0-9/208523_1013853032722_4385_n.jpg

Then I sold that to someone after about 50k miles and picked up an 07 KLR650 that only had about 2800 miles on it. And proceeded to krylon it Desert Tan.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/206747_1014060477908_6944_n.jpg?oh=e624a6b1e0caf31 b61d61f7293c4a1dc&oe=547C891A&__gda__=1417400796_de56fbc4d2853add526a58bd544c002 3

After I sold the KLR to a buddy I picked up a BMW R1150R. Loved this bike and the flat twin.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/2820_1141779550805_4286953_n.jpg?oh=9b286a3c4383d5 f39fdfe5c2ff757de2&oe=547D3B74&__gda__=1416823621_3fdbe257d416385ba90decf255792a8 f

Traded the BMW on a whim for a FJR1300. I put about 80,000 miles on this bike before I crashed it and totaled it on my way home from work one day.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t1.0-9/71696_1658732714311_7760895_n.jpg

At the same time I had the FJR I picked up a Suzuki DR350SE which I only sold within the past year. Great dual sport bike.
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/165607_1790412006211_3868115_n.jpg

After I totaled the FJR I picked up an 07 FZ6 and turned it into a lightweight touring bike. I wish I never traded it on the next bike as this was one damn good bike
https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/p180x540/403496_4005883551615_1874031247_n.jpg?oh=fb1196a8c a1a6f9c6290146e68520f55&oe=54771CD8

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1.0-9/p180x540/581275_3954350583323_547662927_n.jpg

I then traded the FZ6 in on a BMW F800ST. Good little bike but plagued with little nits and niggles which made me swear off the Parallel twin Beemers.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/p180x540/644273_4558791093958_424975607_n.jpg?oh=9e52abd126 8932e8eb1e1e7c22ce8f21&oe=5470C3D1&__gda__=1416823484_9b0aaec4d65f7b540d05dbcebeaae69 f

And now the bike I currently own. An 04 Suzuki V-Strom 650 "adventure bike". Good bike I've taken it places I probably shouldn't have and she just keeps coming back for more. I do still find myself "lusting" after another FJR or FZ6 and will probably one day have another in my stable.
https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t1.0-9/s720x720/1424354_10203562761695773_1764456377_n.jpg

One bike I don't have a picture of right now is technically my first bike. A 1978 Suzuki GS1000E. One of the original muscle bikes from the era of big power and noodley frames haha. I got it from my Great Grandfather when he passed away.

Spent most of my adult life on bikes, and had most types, crotch rockets, factory/full customs. This was my 'last hurrah' before the MS got too bad.
XS1100 Yamaha, ford rear axle with 12.5" wide rear boots and a custom 4-1-2 exhaust.
