I'm old so most of my favorites are old.

Rush, Black Sabbath, Ozzie, Styx, SOME Supertramp, .38 Special, The Cars, OLD Billy Joel, Pink Floyd.

"Newer" stuff, Three Days Grace, Nickelback, Matchbox 20, and some songs that I have no idea who's singing them.

Can't stand :pee:Rap/hiphop. It isn't music, it is about how many cuss words we can fit into one song. Mainly the F word.

Rap is just a way for guys that cannot sing to be part of the music industry so they can get their share of the girls.

Cher those are my kinda bands from my era of music. I now listen to mostly Country because like many of the bands you listed I can understand the words and they all make sense and are not so negative. If I had not joined the Navy when I did I would have been at Woodstock along with many others from my generation. Uncle Sam had other plans for me during that time in my life so I was denied the trip to NY. One of the regrets of my youth.

Some Country Music today would have been called Rock and Roll 30/40 years ago.

I grew up near Woodstock and was in the Army at the end of Vietnam.

Times sure have changed! My kids do not believe anything I say about those times. Their loss.

My 14 year old son downloads music from the 60s and 70s all the time.

A lot of the songs today are remade hits from then. It is like this generation has no inspiration of their own. I guess that is what they get after listening to Techno and Rap music for so long.

Melissa,

I cried after I listened to I Loved Her First the first time.

I may not be my daughter's father, but, I did hold my babies first.

Now, the baby of the family is 12 and in middle school. She is always trying to have the privileges like that of her older sisters. Problem is, all of her older sisters are married and have children. Yes, I am that old.

Everyday she brings a new challenge for me. She just told me she French kissed her boyfriend. Inside, I went Bizzerk. I can not stop her. Why fight and alienate her. She talks to me about everything. I try and guide her as best I can. She has school dances every couple of months.

She is her grade's Student Council Representative, a straight A student in the top class of her 6th grade in the best middle school here in Tampa. I am very proud of her. And, she loves Jeeps and off roading.

HARD ROCK RULES!!!

Metallica, Korn, Tool, Slipknot, Live, Distrubed, Ozzy, Godsmack, Second Coming, etc.

My all time favorite is Pink Floyd.

I cannot stand rap or country. One kills everything and the other morns everything that's dead or gone. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just in case you are wondering... I am 38 years old. Old enough to have listened to the debut albums of Sir Mix Alot and Toby Kieth... I still prefer hard rock.

Mel my nephew has a band in Raleigh N.C. and he sang that song when I first heard it. He and his brother have a golden retreiver named Jake who was getting old and I almost shed a tear. Those two boys really loved that dog. They had asked me to watch Jake when they were in the Air Force and I looked out for him for awhile.
Great guys and a great dog. Thanks for posting that vid.

Growing up in Texas in a heavily guitar playing family, it was Stevie Ray Vaughn and this guy, a lesser known blues guitarist, Bugs Henderson. This old dude has got to be close to 70 and is still awesome!! I've been listening to this guy wail away literally my whole life. Anyway as far as music goes I am really been into a band called Picture Me Broken lately. I dont know how to describe her, a little lacey from flyleaf, hayley from paramore, with some screams here and there, music isnt too heavy but im always into different stuff.

A Day To Remember
Wonder Years
Papa Roach
Breaking Benjamin
Static Lullaby

Five Finger Death Punch

lol, depends on what kinda music you like if you will like any of them. if you look up evans blue, look up older stuff, I dont care for their new singer, the old singer, Kevin Matisyn is good, he is the lead singer now in parabelle. Anything off the Evans Blue albums The Melody or The Pursuit... which by the way are both shortened forms of the album names is awesome. But again, depends on what you are into. They arent heavy at all.

lol, depends on what kinda music you like if you will like any of them. if you look up evans blue, look up older stuff, I dont care for their new singer, the old singer, Kevin Matisyn is good, he is the lead singer now in parabelle. Anything off the Evans Blue albums The Melody or The Pursuit... which by the way are both shortened forms of the album names is awesome. But again, depends on what you are into. They arent heavy at all.

Yea, agreed. The older evans blue is where its at. The new stuff, meh, not so much.

As for some of the other stuff I listen to varies:

Led Zeppelin
Pantera
Metallica(older stuff)
Anthrax
Blue Oyster Cult
Clutch
The Doors
Pearl Jam
Mother Love Bone
Temple of the Dog
Five Finger Death Punch
Kenny Chesney
Alan Jackson... and plenty more. Depends on my mood I guess

Yep ... Where would your twangy, hillbilly, folk music be ... without blokes like Watson, Monroe and Scruggs ... ;)

Still a lot of big names kicking on tho ... and some newbies on the way too

http://www.sleepymanbanjoboys.com

We do have an american blue grass following down here ... but general folk & country music crosses a lot of borders .. so the big names come up regularly.

Have come across 4 King & Country whilst poking around youtube ... little bit too .. god, heaven and touchy/feely for my tastes ... but good listening - all the same.

R&B and Country music make me want to kick babies (Figure of speech). I can't stand the stuff. I'm not so much into rap with the exceptions of a few Artists. Too Short, Slick Rick and the such. Then in the hip hop area with actual talents of A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Old LL Cool J kinda stuff.
I love jazz. Abstract electronic music. Deep House, Dup Step. Rasta. I still listen to Operation Ivy and the Ramons.
A few classic rock bands. Doors, CCR, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, etc.

It's a problem with the regular expression in the software. The statement doesn't take into account the minus sign.

a few of my favorites:Mike Curb Congrgation(Burning bridges),Rare earth(get ready-long version), Iron Butterfly(In A Gadda Da Vida-long version-nice drums) Doobie brothers(Long train running and listen to the music), Bachman turner Overdrive(let it ride and You ain't seen nothing yet), and Spencer davis group(Gimme some lovin'). Not big on country except hearing my father play foggy mountain breakdown and cripple creek on his 5 string banjo before his fingers got bad.

Music is much like politics. The difference is that politics has facts while music is more of person taste. Peoples opinions on politics is bias on their lack of education or understanding.
Where as music is a matter of flavor.
