What's the point of those hoops being so high? Just a style, or is there a function?

Which hoops? The big thing is a stinger used to fend of stuff and stop the jeep from tipping to far forward like drag bars on a drag car. the little holes are just for looks.

Yeah the one in the middle. Interesting, I'll have to look with that in mind now. Some of the one's I have seen don't look solid enough to take much weight, but your explanation makes sense.

Big hoops came from the Jeepspeed crowd, it can assist in preventing an end-over as originally intended, but....it adds length to the vehical as well, when 1st popular, the NUEROC crowd all showed up with hoops on there rigs, by mis-season.....they had all removed them or heated them & bent them back, all the contenders that added hoops did'nt consider the added length to the vehical, which can be conterproductive in the rock world vs. the Jeepspeed world....

From this a saying came..........The bigger the hoop, the smaller the nuts.

What I did'nt get to write due to lack of time, the hoops are pretty much worthless unless they are tied back into the body aprox 2/3rds up the hoop, this is how the Jeepspeed crowd typically reinforces them, without it......the hoops offer very little protection and are more ornamental than anything else.

Not saying you should'nt pursue, just trying to provide some background along with pros & cons......they were very popular 5 years ago.

Thats normal in the industry, theres been some hold outs out there thru-out, but it's normal business in the gas industry now a days. (Liability & Insurance reasons)

will they just trade for my tank? Or will I have to rent from them? I have two tanks I really do not want to rent one. Thanks spanks and when do you think you will be up for wheeling down there? And can I bring a friend?

Those are steel companies I was refering to.

Gas companies in your area would most likely include Airgas & Scott~Gross, you'll be leasing their tanks, it's a liability issue. Tractor Supply offers a swap service, but then again you need to start with their tanks. (Nice option though since their open SUNDAYS!)

If you can show "proff of ownership" for your tanks, Scott~Gross will send your tank out, fill it & return it. Be sure your tanks have current test/inspection dates stamped on the tank, otherwise......you'll need to pay for inspection/testing.

It's all federally regulated.

No wheeling yet........just lots of work!:smiley-scared002:
