Last winter was so cold at home, we took a little trip down to south Florida, to escape the frigid temps. We went to Everglades National Park, and they have a guided canoe trip through part of the park, it's really cool, they provide you with a canoe and paddles, and life jackets all at no charge. This is the only place in the U.S. that has alligators, and crocodiles. The reptile in the first picture is a crocodile. The trip lasted about 4 hours, and our ranger guide Nicole, was really great. It turns out she knew some rangers that had worked at home, that we knew, and then been transferred down there. Going in the winter is so nice down there, no insects. But if you look at the pic of the car in the parking lot with the tarp on it, they recommend that you cover your car with the tarps to prevent the numerous vultures from eating the windshield wipers off the cars! We enjoyed the canoe trip so much that when we got back up near Tampa, we rented a canoe and floated down the Hillsborough River, we saw even more alligators and turtles up there. I highly recommend doing this if you get the chance.

Good call, going in the winter. In the summer the Florida state bird comes out in flocks... The Mosquito.
