Do you mean where in Israel?
The pictures were taken in the Arod river (yes, I know, no water there :) )
Tzinifim river and "Zik"

Very nice Saar. Kudos to the guy with the old wagon too. The river must run in the rainy season? Also must be some water underground for all those trees?

During the winter there are few days of rain there, yes.
I guess that is enough for that kind of trees.

Tough trees for sure

I see the roof rack is working well Saar. That silt looks kind of slick.

bad luck

Nice pictures, I love the desert. But I'm wondering what is the black cylinder on the roof rack? Also what were the temperatures getting up to during the hottest time of day? And do the nights cool off pretty good there?

Yes, the roof rack works great and the silt was "kind of slick" - actually, it is a very scary one... (you can see in the background of the video, how many times my daughter falls and so is my wife ;) )

The black cylinder on the roof is a 21L water tank (~5 gallons?) .
During the day, in that time of the year, it was ~30-35C at night it drops down to 12-15c

That is very interesting silt you have. I imagine it is really wicked if it is wet. Are you heating the water in the black tank, or is it just black because it is black?

It is black because it is black :)
For heating water, I prefer my coleman dual fuel ;)
When it is wet, it is not a nice place to be... I did that 6 years ago, I won't forget it (actually, I was trying to go up there that time, and it start raining while I'm "fighting" the top step there, not fun. I had to drive it backwards all the way down. scary.)
Bottom line, when it is raining, we are not going there...

Kind of what I thought. I think that would be considered highly technical when wet and need lockers and such. We carry minimum of 2.5 gal water. It can be bought in convenient containers like that here. My well water tastes kind of bad. I have thought of using the Jeep to pump water out of creeks or lakes and heating it for showers. Different than your terrain for sure, but here in the mountains a black container ends up in the shade and will not heat water much.

That silt looks a lot like the "moon dust" we had in Afghanistan....it would get calf-deep at times.

I haven't been in Afghanistan, but yes, it is something like that...

I can't tell if Hebrew or Arabic is being spoken but it appears "Yee Haw" is universal :)

What a fantastic adventure and great photos/video, Saar.

Saar, great pics and vid. thanks for sharing. I'm curious, when you guys camped why your tents and rigs are so close to each other. Any reason? Looks almost like you're trying to keep bears out of camp.

at any rate, very interesting part of the world. bet it was a fun trip

There is a limited space where we can sleep (you can not just open your tent anywhere you want in the nature here, there are special places for that, this is one of them)
We put the tents/cars close to each other so no other car will come into "our area" at night when it is dark... so basically, the cars defends the tents/us.
It is much more fun to be close while making dinner out there, snoring is something else :D

The cheering squad at the bottom of the hill is awesome. I love that WJ.

Thank you Saar. At first I thought I was seeing my Jeep. (2000 Classic) My wife loved it. Your campsite looks like the old wagon trains out West in the US. Thanks again for the photos.
More photos again please,
Horace (Oregon/California)

Great video...the silt looks kind of fun to drive in ,but, probably a real job to clean out of everything later! I could tell the video didn't do the steep grad of that descent justice when I noticed the family falling and having trouble with footing in the background! yikes!

Nice to find out a lost twin ;)
Yeah, my kids (and wife) fell few times there :D
It is pretty scary way there.
