So, the switchbacks....

Well, its BIG out West....that still gets us southeasterners....we neared the switchbacks and made a brief run down part of White Rim to Musselman arch (pics later) and on the way back, I snapped a quick pic of the road ahead... The red box is the area with the switchbacks...at the intersection in the pic, the squareish blob is a full size vault toilet building...

And this pic is from up on the switchbacks, looking back....the blue arrow is that same vault toilet building, and the red arrow is the small rise where I took the previous picture...yep, pretty big in Utah....

You got some great pictures, or your wife did. I really like the pics of the switchbacks, and of Musselman Arch. Did you walk across the arch, I first did it when my youngest was about 5 years old. And he said to Monique that this might be the end for daddy.

I was about to embark on that stroll across the arch....when a voice echoed from the surrounding red cliffs with stern authority.... "JOHN......"

The tone and loud extension of the last sounds that compose my name would be considered a warning sound in the animal kingdom, and so I have learned this particular pronunciation of my name means that I am to cease immediately whatever I am doing, as the Commander-In-Chief has observed what I am doing and it has not been an approved action.. ;) So no walk for me. :(

This is the desert, so there isn't a lot of vegetation. Except near water sources of course.
