View Full Version : Beer drinkers and hell raisers

I'm surprised that no one else has posted any jeep tips yet. This is for all the beer drinkers and hell raisers out there. The first day we got the xj and took it for a little ride, is when I found this out. We packed a cooler with soda and adult beverages (beer). And went out to have a little picnic. When we got there I discovered that I forgot the bottle opener. For those fancy Mexican, Canadian and Euro beers, without the twist tops. This works as well as any bottler opener I've ever used. For you uppity wine and champagne drinkers, I don't think there are any built in corkscrews on xj's. By the way I did not drive back, I let my son drive home.

I have my Swiss Army knife with a bottle opener and a corkscrew, if I have my pants on.:smiley-laughing021:

In that case, you can only drink bottled beer fully dressed. Might be a good thing :D

Beer in all forms is a great thing to have around. Think I pay Budweiser's power bill or at least buy the fuel in the delivery trucks.:smiley-laughing021:

Cold. :pee:

I drink it all. My favorite style is a scottish ale but seriously, I'll drink anything once. local bar got in on IPA day a few weeks ago. was awesome. even better was that I didn't have a tab when it was over.

Belhaven is pretty good, but as far as Scottish beer goes I enjoy Tennent's.

Call me a beer peasant, but while I appreciate a great beer, any beer is better than no beer, and cold beer is better than lukewarm beer.

Do you still need a membership to get a beer in a club in Tyler? I think the blue laws are crazy. I have a brother that lives near Whitehouse.

just went wet about 6 months ago. No membership necessary for restaurants, bars. Can get 6 pack at c-store. Local grocery has amazing selection ironically.

Whitehouse is up for vote this time around. I expect it to pass.

Working on getting my kegging setup in operation. Converted the half-bath in my man cave to a wet bar. will run taps from the closet to the cave. Should be a sweet setup.

That's good, I couldn't understand why they ever did that. Would you post pics of your man cave when you get it finished, I would like to see that.

Yea it made no sense. I think the county was losing a couple million a year in sales tax over it. I'll post some pics of it. All is done besides the kegerator and taps.

started the demo of my "closet" yesterday. I will refer to it as the beer cellar going forward. Got everything torn out, modified a shelf, found nearest power supply and got everything lined out. Took a few pics but nothing exciting yet.

Also started work modifying the freezer. Will add a ring of 2x6 between the freezer and the door so I can run temp sensor, gas and beer lines. Taps will be about 6 inches from 34* beer and the lines will be insulated.

Absolutely. Last night got the ring installed on the freezer and some electrical work done. Parts are showing up. Should have beer flowing by the weekend. I need to start carb'ing a stout and I think I have everything to start it.

I'll brew a cider over the weekend so that should be ready to drink soon as it doesn't take long to ferment

Bath sink to the right. Looks like a glass piece for self medicating. Could also be a cool booze bottle I'm I've got my head stuck in the wrong gutter.

That's the bottle for Willett Bourbon. One I recommend. In my younger days, I would've pulled out the drill bits on it :rolleye0012:

Octoberfest marzen I kegged a Saturday ago. My first run at a lager as well. Must say I'm a fan of lagering now. Makes the beer quite smooth. Was finally patient on carbonation and it's perfect. Cheers [emoji106] [emoji482]

what game? Haven't immersed myself in a good FPS in a while. reminds me of Doom, although most do these days. thought about a new xbox 1 or whatever for Halo, but that just seems silly. Might buy the most current halo for my 360.

Or..something on computer would be fun. I don't have a gaming computer though... would the graphics lag a standard laptop? 7th gen i5 processor in this one, 12 G ram, 64 bit OS

That's actually the first Doom from 1993. My computer is getting a bit old. I5, GTX 660, 16gb ram. It still plays the new Doom on medium to low settings pretty well. I'm not a huge "has to be ultra settings, 60fps" guy so I'm fine with medium and 30fps.
