So for everyone that lives in Texas, how are you fairing the storms??

Also where is the best place to live in Texas?

I am looking to relocate, and Texas is where I am going to look very hard at.

I am going to need to be in a area the has lots of irrigation and space

Any thoughts, suggestions, worries, etc.?

So disappointing. No storms. I heard some thunder about midnight, and it rained very light for a couple of hours.

East Texas is very green and lots of trees, Wes Texas is ariad but plenty of land, beautiful country especially out arounf Uvalde. North Texas I really don't know much about, never been there. There is plenty of cows just North of Houston I would just think the land would be more expensive the close you get to a major city.

I was down at Dallas a few years ago. My mother in law offered us some land out in the middle of nowhere about an hour east of Dallas. My wifes Ant and Uncle farm out there and have dairy cows. You will have to irrigate a lot there.

I was out by Odessa for work for about a month once.... drier than a popcorn fart and hotter than sin... I saw alot of people hauling water from town for their homes/farms.

My Dad lives down by BlueXJ.. he says it pretty dry there also..but they water the golf course, so he wouldn't know.. :D

Thanks, I am at a loss of where to start looking.

I was on a website last night landsoftexas.com and they had a lot of nice places, but I dont need the the extra crap with the land, like a 15 stall horse barn, hot walker, race track etc. I'm not into raising horses, just cows.

I did find this place on CL, but then again it's set up for horses, but it's darn cheap.
I don't know what coastal acres are, or if it has water, and the house at 2,000 square feet is almost to big, but the price is way within my budget up to $600,000

If anyone runs into an add for ranches/farms/property please let me know, I'll need a min of 30 irrigated acres.

Abilene is in west Texas but the northern part. Kind of arid but not as bad as the southern part of west Texas. I live along the RioGrande and most of the land under agriculture here is irrigated by a system of canals that have been here since around the time of the first World War. Many of the farms here have citrus trees and there is cotton and many vegetable crops grown here. Come on down Mel.

I grew up in Lubbock (West Texas)... hot... flat.. dry... but alot of land.

Up here in OKC we have been getting light rain since about Thurs or Friday... supposed to last until this Wed. Maybe longer...

What is drawing you to Texas? Ever thought about Oklahoma?

I don't want to make this a political thread but the reason I am taking a hard look at Texas is because Oregon has been turning into a liberal, go with the flow, Obama hugging state and I am disapointed in my own state, while Texans are standing up for what they think is right and not cowering like Oregonians, sad!

I have been looking at Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, and I sure will look at Oklahoma, when I think of Oklahoma I think of tornados and they scare me to death :headbag:

If you see a add for a place in Oklahoma with property and irrigation, send me a link

I am open to any state other than Oregon

So... had enough of the Socialist State of Oregon. Can't say I blame you.:D

Indiana isn't Texas, but just south of Indianapolis in Owen County around Spencer, IN, land is pretty cheap. Lot's of wooded areas, and open ground too.

Buy some open ground with woods, and I will come down and keep your deer problem in check!:D:D
