hello all, i have a little problem and need advise.. about a week ago i changed the belt and 3 days later the pump started leaking from the weep hole. so a few days later it still ocassionally drips. i remembered possibly tightening the belt to much so i loosened up a bit then the leak slowed down then 2 days later it stopped comepletly leaking.. my question: since it stopped should i still replace the pump???

If the water pump isnt very new i would go ahead and replace. They are cheap and easy to replace. And it sure cant hurt, with summer coming.

I think I'd have one on spare just in case it starts again... But if your current one isn't leaking right now and is working properly or is not all that old, I wouldn't mess with it, but if it is pretty old then you might as well go ahead an hit it up... isn't too hard really!!

more like old man in san francisco... the inside is 9/10.. he was in an accident where the jeep was pinned between 2 cars (not a big accident) only damage was both fenders and the tie rod slighly bent.. for some reason insurance called it salvaged.. replaced the above and looks good as new.. paid 1600 sold my other xj for 1600 (220,000 miles tranny on the way out) and pretty much upgraded for free. this is my new baby now.

Get you one of those belt tension gauges. Then change the water pump.
