Hey guys, Here is my new to me 93' xj 4d 4wd. I traded off my beloved bronco for this, because i got the xj bug! This is how it looked when I got it. http://i.imgur.com/GWUnZBj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KqJSSmU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YO6dTRe.jpg
I have plans to budget build into a DD/trail rig. Nothing big, just something to have fun in and still DD. I am not rich, so this will be a slow process and a lot of jy parts being used!

Once it was home first thing was to put my stereo in it. It had stock speakers in doors and hatch. Those would not work. I had my pioneer 3ways that I pulled from Bronco. I had a pair of 6.5's for front and 5x8's for the rear. I also ran all new speaker wire for better sound.

The 6.5 does fit in the door space and even the screw holes lined up right.http://i.imgur.com/qBzxlxn.jpg

The 3way did stick out a little, but as you can see, once the panel is on you can barely notice the bulge in the carpet area. http://i.imgur.com/TxzQYcZ.jpg

The hatch was a little more work. First off I had to fish new wires into hatch. http://i.imgur.com/17Ea2Xp.jpg I ran them right next to the stock harness and just drilled new holes. http://i.imgur.com/DtMk647.jpg

Next came making room for the 5x8's to fit. I took a dremel and cut off the legs of the stock speaker pods. this allowed the speakers to sit flush. I turned them just a little to get screw holes in speakers to fit in hole. Then just drilled and screwed in down. http://i.imgur.com/PfsvMvm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/BwX06yf.jpg The hatch panel fits back on perfectly and the speaker grills line right up. http://i.imgur.com/wtmrIiB.jpg

So that is where I started. I will continue to update this thread as I do new projects.

Well, got a few more things done. Funds are tight right now, but had a lot of this stuff laying around.

First installed Fire ext and my Streamlight Flashlight.

http://i.imgur.com/k2rpMUX.jpg

Then came my Stinger flashlight mounted up front.

http://i.imgur.com/Cy9eS49.jpg

New Cobra 75 installed.

Heavy duty power outlet.

bulrid8

Next came an overhead console from a Ford expedition. This took a lot of customizing and figuring things out for fit and mounting.

http://i.imgur.com/wEr6aK4.jpg

Will have switch panel for all outside lights. The front panel will be a remote winch control.

http://i.imgur.com/ZtHXmtG.jpg

Wired to factory light wires.

http://i.imgur.com/70ZyGW7.jpg

Still going slow, but it's getting there! HAve to get windsheild fixed and hit up jy for new visors!

They are home made. About $20 total and maybe an hour to do.

Decided to make a cover for the IAC and TPS. Just to help keep water off them from vents.

Started by cutting and bending plate. Then made brackets to attach to existing screws on both.

Been fighting an oil leak. So figured I would start with VC gasket first. Pulled the nasty cork gasket. Cleaned up VC and decided to paint it. Make it look a little better. Went with the felpro permadry gasket. It's pricey, but they are the best gaskets made and are reusable to boot!

Thanks. No, they are medical o2 tanks. Wanted something smaller so it didn't tank up cargo space. They are even with wheel well. Once I get OBA done, see how it works.

Found brackets on a rodeo and guy didn't charge for them.

Decided to paint the rims. Used rustolium professional enamel. This stuff is awesome paint. It dries fast. It's a thick paint, so when you spray it it looks textured. But, it dries smooth.

Added some cargo nets to front door, for small stuff. Can find these on rear wall of ext cab rangers. I cut mine down and rewelded it so it wouldn't interfere with window crank.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/8ehyzejy.jpg

If you have power Windows, you can use full size. Fits doors perfectly. Beware that newer years are plastic, so if you need to cut them down, get the older metal ones. I was going to do both front doors, but grab a plastic one without looking at it. So I decided to mount that one to the hatch.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/ry6u2yru.jpg

If you find them stretched out, dont worry, bungee cord at top can be tightened up.

Also have lift waiting to go on. Waiting for my IRO bracket to come in mail for TB.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/4azamate.jpg

Well, got the 3" lift installed. 8 hours of fun by myself! Nice thing was not one bolt gave me any trouble. Even the rear shock bolts came out with ease.
Took out for test ride and got two blocks before turning around. Felt like drive shaft was going to rip out of rear! So, I ended up having to drop TC an inch to get it back in line. Put in New tranny mount and driver side motor mount, while I was there. Been needing them. Still have slight vibration, but atleast its drivable now. Going to put new ujoints in rear shaft too.

Next up will be a SYE and shaft. New brake lines ( rear only has two inches of slack). Then New tires.

It does ride so much nicer on lift!

Wanted to add a idle control on, just to bump up the idle when using the OBA. Makes it fill much faster. So I put one together using a bike gear shifter. Didn't take long to do, took more time finding one! Had to go to a bike shop. Guy gave new used shifter and new cable.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/25/4e8ypydu.jpg

Here it is idled up. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/25/8ubuju5e.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/25/ysere5yg.jpg
I just press pedal in to where I want it and move shifter up to hold it. This way is less strain on cable.

Funny thing is when I went in bike shop and told him what I wanted, he asked if I was building a crawler? Said he gets a lot of people buying them for hand throttles.

Now OBA fills from 0-120psi in about 20 seconds. Still have to see how it does with air tools.
