Dad got his XJ itch back so this will be his daily driver. A 99 with only 95,000 miles and an immaculate interior! We couldn't pass it up.

On to the good stuff!

He has no plans to build it up, but it will be getting some mods to help with MPGs and driveability. We got the XJ a while back, but just now getting around to creating its build thread.

New stuff coming this weekend!

Okay, the leaf springs in the back were completely shot and maybe because of that, there some movement in what felt like the axle when accelerating from a stop. Enough was enough.

We weren't completely sure which new spring pack to go with since Dad doesn't want a lift, but we wanted to make sure he had enough spring for the Tailbone we put on as well as a cargo rack he's putting in.

Ended up ordering the HD replacement leaf springs, bushings, and ubolts from Quadratec. Used the membership at another forum for the free shipping. It was FAST too, ordered Monday night, parts here on Friday. We were pleasantly surprised. Anyway, on to the pics!

Working on that blasted front spring bolt was terrible! Even the cheater bar was struggling.

Finally got everything free. All the other bolts weren't a problem.

The handy-dandy bushing pusher we made.

And then everything all buttoned up!

The picture doesn't do it much justice. There is a significant arch to the spring. The old springs were completely flat and starting to go negative out towards the shackle bushing.

I tried to take more pictures, but it's that thing of once ya get going, it's hard to remember to stop.

The next project is...... 784 fuel injectors! We pulled 12 injectors at the JY for both his and my XJ and now we're just waiting on rebuild kits.

Well, we had two objectives on the Jeep today.

1 - Get the 784 injectors in
2 - Replace drum brake cylinders
3 - new serpentine belt

and we were able to get all in before the rain came this afternoon!

First, we cleared some space up top to get the fuel rail out and depressurized.

Next we removed the four bolts that held the rail in place, shown with old Siemens injectors.

Be careful when removing the electrical connections. The clips can be very fragile. Didn't hurt to grab a couple spares from the JY when pulling the injectors, from other XJs or the donor vehicle.

Our injector rebuild kits (for 12 injectors) came from Mr. Injector. We previously ordered $50 worth of kits from RJM Injection Tech. Never received the products and can't get in touch with them through any means. So...DO NOT USE RJM INJECTION TECH

OLD (L) vs NEW (R)

and then...all the new stuff from ready to be bolted back up.

Install was very easy, but time will tell if there's any serious difference!

The brake cylinders ended up needing all new hardware too because they were all rusted and falling apart during disassembly. Sorry there aren't any pictures, but hands were covered in gunk and we were trying to beat the rain.

Dad wasn't happy with the road noise he was getting from the All Terrains, so we hooked him up. So that's why his old set is on the forum for sale!

Sourced out a set of five 15" Ecco wheels for $100. One had some surface pitting on it, but will work just fine. Picked him up a set of BFG Rugged Terrains in 235/75. Got em mounted up and there is significantly less noise and smoother ride.

Will snap a picture or two when it stops raining.
