My product suggestions are as follows:

Tail-light guards.
Front engine skid (similar to factory but heavier)
Control arm skids.
Bolt in Cage.
MJ rear bumper.
MJ Sliders for LWB.

Hope that helps some. I have always been impressed with the quality of your products. Hope you can make these as well in a high quality.

I'd like to have diff sliders like this...

http://www.ok4wd.com/images/product/1111/medium/nth24201.jpg

But for a Dana 30 and a C8.25.

I'll have to double check your product line up, but I would also like to have an engine skid.

I took off the factory front skid and now I want something that protect more area plus keeps the water/mud from splashing up into the fan and the alternator.

Tube doors for 2 doors since as most are only made for 4 doors. I realize that there were more 4 doors so the 4 door tube doors will sell more and that's how business goes, but just an idea.

Also, there was a company (now out of business) that made a light bar that bolted to the top of the stock bumper, and housed 3 lights (97+) or 4 lights(pre 96). Have ya'll thought about doing something similar? It should pretty simple to make (compared to the bumpers your build) and would give option to owners that don't need a full bumper but want some lighting.

Keep up the good work guys.

Wow, awesome additions guys! I've been abusing your Stage 4 front bumper for some years now and it's still in great shape, some pure beef there.

The tail light boxes sounds like an awesome idea, especially for '97+ XJs

I'd also like to see rear upper quarter panel guards. I think THOR used to make them, but they're hard to come by these days.

The gas tank skid is a great design and on my 'wanna buy it' list.

Keep up the great work, craftsmanship, and outstanding customer service that I remember from when I got the bumper... bar none you've been one of the best fabricators to buy stuff from.

Just a thought.

A tcase single lever conversion like Novak has. You could do it for less if you used the factory transmission linkage bracket and then drill it and apply a bolt and lever with rod. Make the rod so the factory tcase lever can be reversed and reused. Might be able to come in for half their price.

This won't be something we will do. That Novak kit is priced very reasonably and gets rid of all the crappy factory stuff.

Diff/pinon sliders like Nth degree had. I would buy those instantly. Let it wrap full around the bottom of the diff and like 3 or 4 inches up over the diff cover. Full bolt on protection.

I love my Nth Degree skid for my D44, definately something that you guys (JCR) should consider making if it's feasible. I like Mudd's idea of adding a protective diff cover lip - although the one problem with that is that you'd have to remove the entire skid to do a diff fluid change.. not a big deal in my opinion, but could be a deal breaker for some.

Oh, and if you guys want someone to test some of this stuff for free or cheap, just let me know! :smiley-angelic011:

Well, to be honest, I haven't been a big fan of JCR bumpers, but just a style issue. I pefer C-channel-like TJM style stuff. Now that we've got that out of the way ... :D
I gotta say I am extremely encouraged that there's a company out there that's still being innovators in the XJ department. That gets my respect & support. We've also got that out of the way ... :D :D

Times eleventy-billion on the Nth degree type diff slider. Been dreaming of one of those ever since the first time I saw one. (30/8.25 flavor)

Body armor for the front fender, integrated into metal flares. I've seen something like this somewhere, but I think they were custom. For that matter, body armor for the upper rear quarter, also integrated into flares. Because some states do require flares.

HD Taillight guards. Most boxes I have seen don't have side markers & Jersey requires side markers. Besides I like my Waggy lites thank you very much!

Times 2 for some type of alternator guard? Kind of like what Mudderoy is looking for.

Keep up the great work guys. You rock & I'm looking into that steering!

That tcase skid is SEXY! I love it.

Just a question ... I have the Rusty's Engine Tranny Skid (one of the biggest mistakes on my XJ :(, I didn't know any better back then).... any suggestions or thoughts on how that skid would work with your tcase skid?

The rear of the skid bolts to the xmember with two carriage bolts. Do you think it'd work well by drilling through your tcase skid to get the carriage bolts through? I know anythings possible, just looking for your thoughts. I don't think the additional .25" of your skid would make the setup worse.

Do you recommend any engine/trans skid with your tcase skid? Is one in the works?

JcrOffroad
09-19-2009, 08:06 AM
You should have to drill the holes through the skid plate after the skid was installed. You will be able to re-use the carriage bolts if they are long enough. I am not sure of any other skids that work or don't work better.

We will most likely be selling the tail light housings bare. If we can find a good supplier that has good turn around times, we might offer them with lights as well. In order to get the lights to mount behind the boxes, some trimming to the plastic light mounts has to be done.

We are still working the jig set up and final tweaks to our drawings. We will have them available to order by the end of this week. The turn around time should be about 10 days to your door.

Our online order can take Paypal or VS/MC. If you order over the phone you can pay with VS/MC.

There is no way to fit 4" round lights in the 97+ tail light area. As you can see in the pics, it's tight to just fit these 2.5" wide Ovals.

I think the problem with the "tube" guards is they make you think the OE plastic is protected, but it really isn't. It's like comparing a off road bumper with a after market brush guard. Those tube light guards are like for brush, not rocks and trees.

I think the problem with the "tube" guards is they make you think the OE plastic is protected, but it really isn't. It's like comparing a off road bumper with a after market brush guard. Those tube light guards are like for brush, not rocks and trees.

O... lol... I'm glad you told me that. I always assumed it protected the plastic. But now that I think about it they really couldn't since they are attached to the housings themselves... lol...

Actually im starting to warm up to the round LED's with the side fender guards. I wonder if they can be cut to fit around my bushmaster flairs? hmmmm... hint hint... :)

Very true!! Same goes for the nerf bars that people put on the side of their rigs. Those things will fold on a rock or tree, and like the light covers in question, are more for looks, or to help Grandma up into the rig.

I'm in the same situation. I think the problem with the bushwackers cut is that since the bushwackers are flexible they can be installed further up or further down (forward or back as well). So pre cutting it without specific measurements post bushwacker install might not turn out too well.

Before I get to the point of ordering I was going to ask just to be sure, but I suspect that I would have to take the bushwackers off, mark the armor and cut it myself.

There is no way we can make this "bushwacker" compatable. You can either mount them right over the armor, or trim the armor to fit the bushwackers.

how bout some front tube fenders with panels

x10 !! and rear !!
Personally I don't know that I'd "need" the entire panel covered... just something like a 2.5" flange that contours to the body lines mounted with some internal back up plates & a tube flare that comes off of that... somewhere in the 3" to 4" width (??) full wheel well coverage front to rear... keeping the XJ flare profile... not rounded or odd angles, mimic the O.E. ones.
With the rear panels done you're halfway there...
I hate to drop his name, but Cruzin Illusion's came out sooooo damn nice.
I'm sure y'all have seen his set up....:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I just don't have the time...

Get ta Crack'n !!! :D

In order for us to make tube fenders, they are going to be around $1000-1200 for a set of 4. That's front and rear. I don't believe that they will sell for that price, so I don't really feel like making the designs, prototypes and jigs for something that just simply won't sell. Do you guys feel I am wrong on that? Is that price something you would be willing to pay for this?

Completely correct. The set up on a production run is key, and where most of the time and planning take place. Time taken in the set up of the fixtures means a fatter bottom line in the end! I agree, I think that it would be a very expensive piece to design, build, market, and inevitably purchase!! It would also be quite an install as well. A lot of modifications to the rig would need to be made, in order for them to give any benefit of clearance and protection, IMHO. So, it would take an experienced individual to install it, and that would scare a lot of the market away. Most people want something that is easy to install, although there are a handful of us Jeepers out here that would jump at a project like that!!

I agree with the $1000 to $1200 range... y'all are great craftsmen so the quality isn't a question and I'm not against paying someone for their time & product... Depending on the full panel or just a mounting flange a few inches wide would have a bearing on $$$$...
I wish I had the time to dedicate to making a set... it'd be mons. of off & on work... I tend to overbuild things which takes more time...
Oh well I can wish... thanks for the thoughts...

What about dif guards? Make them more beefy than what's currently on the market.

Heavy Duty Drive Shafts

Heavy Duty Battery Boxes

Heavy Duty Steering Rods

Heavy Duty brackets for the leaf springs

I got a few more ides but I am running late for work. Will add more later and I hope these havent already been suggested ( i kinda thought of them while drinking my morning coffee...)

I like the battery box idea. The battery trays and hold downs are junk in an XJ, and that could be a hot seller, if priced right, or course....hint, hint!!:boohoo:

Sorry, we won't be able to make them out of diamond plate. We don't want to chance gouging our lower dies in our press.

Also I just thought if someone wanted a dual battery set up you could either make 2 boxes. One for a single battery and one for a double battery. Or make just one box that could be somewhat modular and able to mount together. (never seen that before)

Just a thought... :)
