I'm new to this forum, and I must say I'm loving this "Product Reviews" area. Here's hoping more members post more reviews soon.

To that end, I'd like to give a hearty thumbs up to maker/seller of this 14" 72W LED light bar (http://www.ebay.com/itm/290846827672?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649). There are literally dozens (if not hundres) of places to buy similar light bars.

I recently installed one as an auxiliary reverse light on my XJ, as the rearward visibility at night was nothing short of awful. But no more! This thing really lights the way, and draws just under 6 amps. Highly recommended!

Testing it out. I parked my daughter's bicycle at the end of the drive way, about 35 yards behind the Jeep. With just the factory reverse lights, you can barely see the reflectors on the bike.

But, with the new aux. light:

"honey, do we have a landing strip nearby?"

Okay, adding to list.....

Is that a 30 degree spot or 60 degree flood?

LEDs are the future!!! Low draw and tons of light! I will definitely be adding some to my little Jeep, thanks for the review and the great pictures!

It's the 60-degree flood. About the only thing I'd do differently is possibly use two smaller lights and aiming them slightly outward, so as to widen the pattern further. When you're backing in a straight line, this setup is more than adequate, but in the real world, I might prefer a bit wider pattern. But that's just nitpicking, though...

You bet. Me too! In fact, these pics are just a subset of those I took for a thread in another forum about upgrading interior lighting, rear hatch cargo lights, switch illumination, and under-hood lighting -- all with LEDs. Supporting the LED industry has been my recent contribution to getting this ailing economy back on its feet. :D

Exactly! And the prices are finally getting a bit more reasonable as they become more mainstream. I doubt I'll ever put incandescents of any kind on my Jeep again.

Do it! You won't regret it.

Thanks for the link. These lights are awesome. Good prices too. I think I will get some to replace my aux Halogen reverse lights.

FYI - I used this write up with the 3 way switch. I know it is overkill for the LED lights, but it is a good idea.

(I'd swear I already replied to this. But I don't see it, so here goes...)

I don't think it's overkill at all. I wired mine a little differently, but also used a 3-position switch.

I keep it turned off during the day so that people behind me aren't blinded every time I put the tranny in reverse.

That's a good way to contribute. :D I've done a lot of LED upgrades, some more extensive And i love each one. I have yet to get the underhood lighting down in my head, how did you do yours? I have a b-day coming up, may have to ask someone for this. :rolleye0012:

Well, that one is kinda cheesy... but it works.

It's just one of those el-cheapo water-resistant light fixtures with an LED replacement "bulb" in it:

A few pieces of tin foil strategically placed on the inside of the lens keeps the light from shining in your eyes. Crude, but effective.

I got to find those threads, that is the same upgrades I want to do to my '99.

Hey, whatever works. I've been thinking about some bars or strips, and maybe one of those reel out lights too.

I just got finished with the high speed scan of that thread.

:shocker:

 That is some VERY cool, clean wiring and lighting. The diagrams are great!

Thanks. I just added some in-cab winch controls this past weekend. Next, I'd like to incorporate some LED strip lights into the grill so that the poor sot operating the winch's clutch and spooling the cable can see what he's (she's?) doing even in the dark. Too much, maybe?

Wow, man. Impressive. Love the liftgate lights, and those marine wiring covers. Giving me all kinds of ideas.

No, because I want rock lights also, trying to hold a flashlight and run the wench is a royal pain when it's raining and cold
