Its not an XJ but it still has square head lights.

Here is my 93 YJ that I bought after I sold my XJ. I miss my XJ and loved it a ton but I wanted to get a Wrangler this time and build it. I have plans to get a XJ for a DD and build it up a little, but the idea behind the YJ is to have a vehicle that I can build and wheel it all over the US at the bigger events and trail rides that go on through out the year.

My plans for the YJ when I bought it was to swap out the axles and run 37" tires. I also have plans to get a custom cage and some custom tube fenders and bumpers. All of this will be done by Get Bent Fab Works out of NorCal.

As of now the YJ has a 1' body lift and shackles in the front.

My plans with the YJ are:
1978 F250 8 lug Dana 44/60
37/12.50/17 Goodyear MTR's
Spring over with plans to link the front
SYE with a belly up skid
Custom armor
Vehicle Wrap

Right away I had to get rid of the tan so I painted the top and tinted the windows.

Next was time to take it out and wheel it a little bit.

Next comes the axles. I found them on Craigslist for $500. They came from a running 78 Ford F-250 and they where still under the truck when I went to purchase them.

I then noticed that the rear both drums would spin together instead of opposite so I popped the cover and found it had a Detroit in it.

Here is some progress on the rear, first thing was a disc brake swap on the rear and get rig of those giant drums.

Then after some rotors, calipers, lines and some new brackets. The rear is about ready to be put in except welding the shock tabs and spring perches on and I will wait until I have the axle in place to get all that done.

Next was time to buy the tires, I was set on the wheels but the tires I went back and forth but I finally decided on the Goodyear MTRs.

Goodyear MTR 37/12.50/17 on a ProComp La Pax series wheels.

I have also done a few other things like Magna Flow muffler and new cat, and a new soft top and soft doors.

I love the Texas mud, but seeing these pics makes me miss the desert! Looking forward to seeing more updates on your YJ build.

Yeah I am getting use to the desert but I miss the mountains, trees, and water. I love rock crawling myself and there is not a lot of that here around Vegas.

Just for fun I moved the front tire about where its gonna sit and mounted the rear in place to give me a better idea of how the Jeep will look after Im all done!

Small update I put in a battery box. I've had it laying around since I owned my Cherokee. I could not get it to work right in the XJ so I kept it and decided to stick it in the YJ. I also pulled the stock brackets out and cleaned them up and painted them with some heat resistant flat black.

I also turned the dash from tanish brown to black. I will be changing out the seats over time to black, for now they will get black seat covers.

YJ is looking good!! Might have to pick up a battery box like that as both of my hold down points on my stock crap have broken through
