Ok here's what's weird. The surge protector fits on the usb cable just right. the power cord for the charger is too thin and the surge protector just slides up and down the cord. Should it be on the usb cable?

I have a usb cable with a piece similar to that and its close to the end that sticks to your device (in your case your camera)

The material in the middle of that is metal, iron. It is a RF choke. Long runs of wire act as antennas. They can send signals or receive them. This could be bad if you are using the camera and a CB transmission were close by as it strong signal could be induced into the power line and show up as noise during playback.

Most of the time the chokes are placed on the AC power lines. There should be something in the documentation telling you which line to put it on. Failing that do a search for that model camera and RF choke, RF shield, etc...

Thanks guys. I didn't find any info on the rf choke and where it goes on my particular camera. It definitely doesn't fit on the power cord for sure. The cable is half the size as the diameter on the rf choke. It fit snug on the usb cable so I put it on there. I hardly use the usb cable though.....

camera is awesome by the way :) Now I can get quality pictures out on the trail instead of fuzzy ones where you can't see the tire spinning. This camera has a built in 16 gig memory so I can record 8 hours of video or 31,000 stills. Mmmmmmm :D

Mudd, some of those RF chokes require you to loop the power cable through them twice, that's probably why the hole is bigger than the cable. May want to try that...

I see. I believe I saw something like that before. I think that's how it's supposed to be. Thanks man.

No problem, only reason I know is because that's how I have mine on my CB radio.
