After I completed the 96 XJ brake booster / master I didn't like how the stock windshield washer tank was located, it was too close to the new master cylinder brake lines. The solution was to replace it with one of the newer (97-01) XJ windshield washer tank and pumps that fit inside the drivers fender well. I pulled the fender liner and it fits in perfectly:

Also had to punch a hole in the inner fender for the new filler neck and Dremel out a slot for the filler neck guide:

Tank mounting bolt locations:

The new tank had two pumps and I ran wiring and washer fluid hoses from each into the engine compartment. If the primary pump breaks I can just switch connections w/o pulling the fender shirt to switch pumps. Filler tube installed:

Later I used the newly available real estate to install an under-hood reel light:

Love it! And that's just empty space anyway.

It's kind of funny that you did that. I got a Grand Cherokee (ZJ) washer bottle at the junk yard last summer and plan on mounting it under the hood (where ZJ's had it) so that I can trim the fenders and not worry about damaging the washer bottle while wheeling.

My plan is to run the intake to a cone filter in the wiper cowl, and use the space where abouts the air box was to mount the washer bottle.
