Here's some pictures of the BDS Outback Adventure in Eau Claire, PA.

My first time out in the cherokee and got a good feel for what it can do. THANK GOD for all that armor I put on. It got a heckuva good beating, especially the drop brackets.

My gf's brother (silver cherokee) suffered a broken bds trackbar. It snapped at the threaded part, which was rather thin IMO. My gf's sister's ex drove a tj with the same trackbar and it broke in the same spot. We were kinda worried about his trackbar, fearing it would break, and it did. The guys hosting the event helped us out by welding it back together with angled steel and it held up the rest of the weekend. Those guys are cool.

Oh yeah, they said he's getting the upgraded 1" thick strackbar free. BDS does honor their lifetime warranty. ;)

Back on the trails for more fun:

The last couple of vids of my jeep are on the Porcupine trail. It was a "mod" trail that required 33's. We were a little bored with the stock trails so we went off and tried this. What started out as a group of four ended up as two when the rear two jeeps threw in the flag. I kept on pushing forward struggling on the rocks and my skids took a beating. I did get about 300 yards in before turning back due to time. Quite a challenge.

I did the entire weekend with the sway bar connected just for the heck of it.

Hope you enjoyed pix and vids. They are having another event the weekend of sept 26th for anyone who's interested.

Those are great. You had the most aggressive rig in all the pictures. Maybe I missed it (I look at more pictures than read) but did you have to use the winch? If so how did everything hold up? Any comments on your rig from anyone?

I'll watch the videos when I get home.

What was your most important skid on the trip?

Thanks Mudd. There were a few more cherokees that kicked my arse but I didn't get a picture of all of them. The other black cherokee in the pictures had the same height and tire size plus alot of other goodies but he found himself getting stuck and winching. I didn't get a chance to use the winch, although I tried. My rig pulled through pretty much everything there. The event host, Rob, was doubting my rig and said it would be too difficult to try the Mod trails. They had Stock, Mod, and Extreme trails, stock being 31's or smaller, Mod 33+, Extreme 33+ lockers, etc. They recommended us doing the stock but could try the mod later on in the weekend after everyone's gone through. They didn't want us little guys clogging up the trail on the very first run so we waited till sunday afternoon and went for it. I was expecting ALOT of winching in the porcupine trail. The spot we turned around at had some deep drop offs and huge boulders. I had no fear but we just didn't have the time. I know if I stayed I would not have any rocker panels left...lol.

So no, no winching that weekend but I did get asked alot about who made that winch bumper. Detours just got a little more popular. ;)

The most important skid had to be both the front skid and oil pan skid. I banged the oil pan skid so many times. It's not bent or anything so it held up well. My gas tank skid only got touched once, and no it didn't do any harm to the xj talk sticker on it. My engine bay was spotless after this run and thanks to the front skid for that. It kept the mud waves from hitting the fan. The silver xj had a brown motor as well as everyone else who followed us. I love mud but I don't like it on the motor. It causes plms and makes engine work a chore.

I realized I needed diff protection and of course rock rails. The diffs got banged on rocks all day long. Your cruising about 3 mph on the trails and all of a sudden "bang" and you stop in your tracks. That's the diff hitting a rock that you thought would pass by your pumpkin. They got abused but no major damage.

I don't see an oil pan skid. I see a engine and transmission skid for $179.

I could have but I needed to keep enough air in there to get to a gas station and air em up. I don't have on board air yet. someday....
