I am starting to work on some designs for my own roll cage and I know I will be off road alot with out doors or tube doors. So I was thinking of using tube to frame the door to add strength has anyone done this or seen this?

I would rather have a roll bar installed behind the driver passgr seats - so that if it does roll over - u r protected - I think a cage is a lot of work.

???? I do not understand? That "roll bar" would be just one of the hoops I would install. The work is not an issue I was asking if anyone has heard of or seen someone frame in the doors with the cage. I am going to do mine something like this one.

That cage looks good. I wish I had something like that but then it would boost my confidence and have me on my lid in no time.

Hey spanky do you have a rag top? I am in the process of getting one from a guy in Southern California. It is the one that JP magazine did the article on.

How about a "hybrid" exo/interior cage. A member of my club just did it on his XJ and it's pretty nice. He has plans of tying it into his sliders and bumpers.

Well the internal is going to protect you. The hybrid is going to protect the top of the xj and you. So the 2nd one is better in the long run I'm sure.

Yea, it's retractable canvas, I had it custom made by a company in Arizona who in the business.........ordered an extra canvas for it just in case. ;)

What's the purpose of it, escape hatch? :rotfl2:

I'd like to have one, but is it noisy, leaks, etc?

The other nice thing about the hybrid is in the event that you do a full roll, most of the glass is protected becuase the cage, not the roof, will absorb the impact.

The purpose?? Wife wanted the CJ I was building at the time, she likes the "open air" feel.......Owen was on the way and I knew a CJ/YJ/TJ was'nt going to be a good idea, so the compromise was the rag top, I had it custom made to the largest size which would fit........

No, it dosent leak and my XJ is full of noises so who knows........

The cage keeps would-be burglers out! :rotfl2:

The one I'm designing now I want to make as a very protective internal cage that is not very noticeable for the weekend warrior.

Thats the company that made mine, hopefully things have changed there as they were very disorganized when I delt with them. I was actually considering a 'buy-in' at the time, but after dealing with them personally I felt it would'nt be worth the headache.

I hope you have a better experiance with them, and whadya know.....I was ahead of the curve on this one!
