On friday evening we went to the Ardennes in Belgium were I found a campingsite were it was alowed to have a campfire next to your tent. This is very rare in our region.
To bad it was not allowed te drive the XJ in the forest.

i never take pics when i go camping but the first time out this year would of been a great pic to post. so we went for the first time this year to start my dog jumped out of my truck on the way. (did not get hurt just seen another dog) we got to the camp site and set up camp i started to pond beer after beer. then it started to rain alittle my daughter got all wet and muddy so i turned my truck on and put her clothes on the heat vent while my wife and her went in to the tent to stay dry. i was standing next to the river fishing when my trucks ebrake failed and started down the hill after me i had had about 12 beers at this point so i'm alittle slow i jump out of the way right before my own truck hits me. it went right in to the river in the deepist part. i jumped in the truck and get all wet and pull it out. so now im soaking wet and it starts to rain realy hard so we decide to pack up and go home. my wife can't drive a stick so i have ot try to drive home drunk. we get home it was like 25 minute drive home. we get home and it stops raining. my wife says well lets get some dry clothes and go back. so now we go back up another 25 minute drive to set up camp cook dinner and then go to sleep. this was the worst camping trip ever i wish i would of had a camera to take some pics or a video camera to send it to one of those shows and try to win some money at least i would get something out of it.

so to all the people that their wives can't drive a stick teach them or else don't drink so much.

:smiley-laughing021::smiley-laughing021:

Sounds kind of like my trip, but worse :smiley-scared002:

A friend and I went up to Thief Valley Reservoir about 2 1/2 hours away after being told that it was beautiful with 740 acres of water and 10 miles of shore. Well we got their at 10:00pm, it was dark, we put up our tents and went to bed. Never have I had a more miserable night, no one told us that we would be camping with 300 cows turned loose into the campground, or that the coyotes liked to come on down and bother the cows, so that they would beller all night, or that it was going to get below freezing, then next morning, I got a good look at the campground, got stung by a wasp and decided this was not the place to be. I was all prepared to get good camping pictures to add to this thread, but I was in too much of a hurry to break down the tent and get the heck out of there :smiley-scared002:

I did pause long enough to snap a couple pics of a few of the cows

California is beautiful and feature rich, but it doesn't out weight the cost or the politics. Texas is amazing and if you've never been to a real mountain, the little hills we have in West Texas are very impressive! :smiley-laughing021:

We have everything you may want in Texas, mountains, beaches, cold and snow on one end and warm and tropical on the other. No mud slides or near constant earthquakes though, but I don't miss them either.

You get used to the weather. We don't even notice the quakes unless they hit 5

Hi Overland XJ, I see it is called Pa grand canyon, can you post any pictures of the canyon? I would like to see that. And who makes that tent on the roof, that is really cool. I missed it this year, but I guess they have an overland expo every year in Flagstaff, I will try to go next year.

Overland ... just looking at the label .. ;);) .. :D

Theres quite a few of that style. The Sth Africans do some nice units.

ARB has a rather expensive one ... but maybe OverRockOffRoad can source 'em at a discount .. ??

Lotsa chinese ones out there also ... with a variety of camping company, brand names, stuck on them .. ;)

Handy things ... if you dont mind having to, make your bed ... before you go for a drive .. :D

Not much of a camp, but it was quick and easy.
