The program is wrong on so many levels I'm not even going to start to rant about it now. You want opinions though? It sucks.

I don't know enough about the program to complain about it. I do know that I do not like the idea of Jeeps being trashed and I really didn't like this video. I was impressed at how long that 4.0L stood up to the abuse!

In a nutshell, I'm against it.
I'll be brief. I think this is another BS attempt to bail out big business at the expense of a few thousand gullible consumers. Some of the people participating in this program will probably end up losing their vehicles in a short time because of poor managing skills and high payments. They will end up worse off than they started.
This program will, in a small way, cut down on the availability of cheap used Jeeps as people will think their old junkers are worth more now.
On the flip side, people who want (and can afford) to buy a new vehicle anyway, and have an old Jeep that's so rusted/worn out that it's cost prohibitive to fix it, can get way more for it this way than they could ever get for it if they parted it out.

Well to good thing is that the government (at least not yet) isn't mandating people to stop driving cars after a certain year. There should be used cars available unless the cash for clunkers goes to 10k or 15k! lol

Look at it like this, say you have a '97 XJ and you spend around $200-$300 a month on gas then maybe $50 on maintenance and the occasional starter or alternator. So you go trade it in on a car that gets double the gas mileage so you cut your gas in half and warranty so not maintenance, but you now have a car payment of $300-$450 depending on credit and if you loss your job you may also loss your car and be back to looking for a $3000-$5000 XJ to drive which maybe in worse condition than the one you already owned. Also your monthly car budget just went from $250-$350 to $400-$650 hows is that saving? Who is this program helping? Not the car buyers.

Really Obama is supporting socialism not Communism, but I do not know if you would want to put him in a pic with the symbol from the last successful socialistic government!?!?
