So like I need another project, but I can't say no to family :headshake:

Here is the goal. My Uncle has a 77 Alfa with mechanical fuel injection that has givin up the ghost. After looking over the system on a local car, I told him to convert it to Megasquirt. So after a trip to Texas and a ride in the Delorean he was sold on the idea. So down the rabbit hole I went, and came up with this idea to use the intake off a 82~91 Alfa and remove the mechanical injection. So a even longer story he has purchased a intake, and I purchased a 85 Alfa. So the goal is to do swap here then remove it and install it on his car 1800 miles away and retune. Then I get redo the 85 all over again :D(maybe keep it too). So here is the juicy part "the parts list"

1. Megasquirt 2 modded for points ignition (actually pertronix)
2. The 02 sensor is the Bosch AFS75 with matching plug
3. The Intake Temp sensor is a Airtex 5S1018 (std gm sensor)
4. The Coolant Temp sensor is a Wells SU109
5. Pertronix for the Meralle Distributor
6. XJ throttle body for the IAC and TPS

For the folks who want to know more about Megasquirt go here http://www.megasquirt.info/

So for the good part the donor car

Clean looking for a donor. How hard was it finding an Alfa in Texas?

I have been looking at the Megasquirt and daydreaming too. Got my eye on that and an aluminum V6 for HUM WEE. So this project intrigues me because of that.

Not hard at all it was at a buddy's shop. its a great running car, It just needs a head due to it freezing and cracking the water jacket externally

I am very interested in how this turns out. I have some daydreams for my own Mighty Mite and the smaller waterproof version on a more modern engine.

So I finally got the intake modded and reinstalled. I spent the bigger part of Saturday finishing up the wiring. By sunday night I got it to fire up and run for a bit

here are some shots

Very nice Matt. I have been daydreaming about getting one someday for the Mighty Mite build I will do. Gotta make sure it will handle the engine first. Lots of stuff on the dream engine

just food for though if you can put a pertronix in it and a basic tbi your set. I think the older chevy cars with a 2.0 had a tbi that has the tps and iam with 2 injectors in one unit. I'll be using this on my Galaxie

Also when ordering the megasquirt ask them to install the pull up resistor for "pertronix" if not you need a MSD 6a and $13 on a resistor or $200 on a msd box.

So it lives with a noisy lifter and a idle that is at 1100 (i'm working on that) 1/2 of my issue is it will not get past 160 degrees (engine temp) and that is right at the end of the warmup tune (closed loop)

Does that indicate it's running too rich?

the O2 says its n the 14 range but it stays in closed loop till 160 degrees and it goes by IAC steps via temp to create a high idle

Tstat?

it could be.... This car is a test bed and it has a cracked head (water during a major freeze). So the main purpose is to convert a car that is across the country that is a 77 alfa with mech injection. This car will probably be fixed or sold as is when done.
