Hey guys Just thought I'd show what I did to my jeep by adding something that might be helpful if your out in the dark woods and you need a helping hands to see what your doing when it comes to fixing under the hood... Knowing that alot of jeeps don't have under hood light... I picked these up for 20 buck at a local auto parts store...

I like the thought of being prepared for the unexpected. ;)

I'd modify one with extra wire, so it could be detatched and used under the hood thru-out,
kinda like a 12 volt drop light.

Very good idea. I'm gonna have to copy that. I just broke the factory lamp installing the snorkel so this would be a nice upgrade.

Good idea.

I mounted a magnet to a cheap light and enough wire so that I could stick it to the side of the fender if I needed a bit of light on the outside or anywhere under the hood. Do you have problems seeing upfront like if you were changing a belt or alternater?

Also for you junk yard scavengers.. GM trucks came with a magnetic light with a retractible cable (basically the same thing I did). http://www.pfyc.com/mm5/graphics/new/gn3007.jpg

I'm goin to mount a cigar lighter under my hood so I can unplug a light or run a small compressor.

That's even better. You need some kind of reel to keep the slack wire from getting tangled/caught in something.

buy em on ebay, I bought mine for 5 bucks shipping and the auction was for .01 cent, I got the 12 LED ones for my rock lights, i bought two pair. the ONLY issue is they are coming from china and take like three weeks for delivery.
also for those wondering these same lights he used are at Northern tool for 12 bucks a pair but no wiring JUST the lights, they make for great offroad lights, cheap and if they break your not changin anything more than the housing whic is again 12 for another pair....

I have thought about fender vents too. But the problem I see is that the metal in the fender is part of the sub frame in the front and used for the front spring. I think it would compromise some strength there if you vent it.
