I have something set up so I get e-mails from google when certain words are searched on. Jeep Cherokee is one of the searches I watch. I received an e-mail that contained the words "Death to Jeep Cherokees!!!". I had to go look.

It's a Honda site and people are talking about getting rid of their Jeep's and getting the rolling coffins, yet fuel efficient coffins. Anyway I registered and put up a post. You might enjoy reading it. Here's the :link: (http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-generation-ge-08-present/46045-death-jeep-cherokees-what-your-cfc.html#post708588)

They don't HAVE to crush them... they have to remove the engine and transmission. The rest can be sent to the recyclers... I have a feeling that more than an engine and transmission will accidently find its way into a recycling yard though....

I am going to start my own cash for old jeep program. Bring me your Old Jeep and I'll smack you for wanting to get rid of it the give you $50 and a gallon of used fryer oil and till you to be on your way! I am trying my best to collect as many Older Jeeps (and some other cars) as I can. But seriously Muddy you were way to nice to those Fit guys, I mean my wife has a very feminine male cousin that even said that he thinks the FITs are Gay. I laughed for a week thinking back to that.

I can't get myself to post in a Honda forum. I feel they might have something similar to the jeep bug and I'll be unexpectadly converted into a ricer and my life would be over in an instant. I DO NOT want to be driving a farter.

I bought a 1987 Honda Civic to haul the family around in. It was a very well built vehicle. I was young a new Dad and I was trying to do what I thought needed to be done by a responsible family man. I got over that pretty quick! :smiley-laughing021:

My ex husband and I did the same thing, we sold my 87 toyota 4x4 truck and bought a 89 honda accord right after our first daughter was born, I have to say, at the time it was a wonderful little 5 speed car, and a tank of gas lasted me a month at a time even if it felt as if my *** was dragging the ground everytime I drove it :smiley-laughing021:

Okay let the jokes fly, but we bought an '04 Saturn Vue AWD (that came with a HONDA 250 HP 3.5L V6) that we've put over 70,000 miles on. And except for having two rear diffs replaced under warranty there's been 0 problems. Pics are in my albums.

I feel like I'm at an "AA" meeting and each past ricer owner is standing up with shame and embarrassment telling about their past wrong doings. :rotfl2:

It's okay people. Own and drive what you like. The problem I had was someone parting with a Jeep to drive what I see as 2 to 3 steps down. That's just my opinion.

Remember we need to encourage anyone that is leaning to wards a fuel efficient vehicle to go with those feelings. The more of them there are the better we look (our Jeeps), the safer we are (rock beats paper), and the more fuel there will be (cheaper in price) for us!

I didn't want it to sound like I was ashamed of anything, just stating the fact that a Saturn had a Honda engine. And a very strong engine at that. It puts out more HP than either of our two V8 equipped Jeeps. It doesn't have the torque I need for towing though, so it's used more for errands and fun.http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss68/DLHTURBO/burnout.gifhttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss68/DLHTURBO/FirstTD.gif

"Hey we got a Saturn.. we have had to have the rear-end replaced twice in 70k....But its a really good car"....

What is in that thing the GM/Honda version of the Dana 35?????

Two rear ends in 70k isn't what I would call good... no matter who is paying...

I have had two Jap cars.... A Toyota Cressida... that thing was basic transportation... 4 seats.. some interior...an engine... your normal Jap car.. completely boring....

and a Geo Metro... Yes.. it was sold by GM.. but it was a Suziki Swift. Parts were overpriced and it rode like it was made of tinfoil.....

I have a Geo Metro that I drive most of the time, and yes it rides like poop!! It does however keep the miles off of my other vehicles, which is a good thing. It also gets over 40 MPG in town, which is VERY good, and the main reason that I drive it. It has to look strange to see a 6'5" 230# guy driving a Metro, but hey, I'm laughing all the way "past" the gas station!!LOL!!

That engine was too strong for that rear end, (which was designed for the 2.2L 4 cyl. AWD and then strengthened). The front diff had no problems.

You all should see what my poor Diesel looks like http://i730.photobucket.com/albums/ww305/melreese83/smilies/sign0068.gif, but it does get 24mpg no matter if your empty, or towing heavy.

Alright! A good old Dodge! I had an '84 Ramcharger 2WD that I installed a 440 w/ a 727 trans & a D60 rear in "back in the day". I loved that truck.

Right at 250,000. The body and everything else is falling apart around the motor, that diesel just purrs http://i730.photobucket.com/albums/ww305/melreese83/smilies/93C_peelout1.gif http://i730.photobucket.com/albums/ww305/melreese83/smilies/cbadge2.gif

I'd find a clean shell and do a transplant. Those things are cheap. JMO

That is the problem I am having, you can't find them. Gas 92 dodges won't work cause there were not built as heavy as the diesel 92's, and you can't find a 92 diesel in good shape that is a 3/4ton 4x4 like mine. Everyone wants these diesel's, so finding parts and the whole truck is not easy to come by anymore, I have been looking non stop. What I have found the most frustrating is that on the 90,91,and 92 diesels, they kept changing things around, so even if I do find a 92, it's still not for sure if the motor's will just swap out easy. :boohoo:

I am to the point now, of just buying a good running 92 diesel (I have my eye on one with 230,000 on the motor for $4500) and turning my current one into a flat bed farm truck.

I was poking around this morning and I found that there have been a few more replies to the thread over on the FIT site. It's pretty funny. People were talking "fondly" about their old Jeep, Durango, Blazers, etc... Thinking about all these folks with their "Honda Fit" cars, I was reminded of those cars in "Demolition Man" that Sylvester Stallone had to drive. I know I'm old and getting older, but I hope we never get to the point where all vehicles are these little crap things that can't carry much or go anywhere.

Hey if you haven't read the whole story, the wife and I have always wanted a Wrangler, we were at the Jeep dealership to buy a Wrangler when I suggested we get the Cherokee, because our girls were 3 and 4 at the time.

So yes, we're still going to get that Wrangler. Just a lot later than I expected.
