Well, to start off I would like to say I just recently joined this forum and I wanted to get a few opinions and ideas for my xj. I bought her for $500 and she was in decent shape. After doing all the required things to get her running well, I decided it was time to throw on some custom mods and parts. It is a work in progress but here are a few pics.

Stock:
149
150

Took fenders off:
151

Took her to maaco for a nice paint job:
152
153

Got the old bumper off:154

And the new rough country bumper on:
155
156

This is all I have done so far. I have the new fenders ready to be put on along with the front winch that sits in the bumper. I will hopefully have pics soon!

Future mod list:
3" life
31 bfg mudding tires w/ black pro comps
Surco 45x60 roof rack
Light bar
And much more!

If you are going to be off road recovery points are key. Front and rear. Rear because you will normally need to be pulled out the reverse of the way you went in. Make sure the recovery points are tied into the unibody good.

Then if you are going to do a lift, look into doing a SYE first. It will solve lots of problems that come up as you lift. SYE is always a good idea, but really only necessary if you do 4.5"+ of lift.

IMO the best way to get a rear recovery point is to just install a rear reciever hitch.
