Wow! I'm sorry it's been so long since my last post! I thought you all might like to see some of what I've been working on lately.
I'm no longer racing the 5.9 Grand in ECORS Class A, but we are still heavily involved in the race series. In addition to sponsoring A Class, I am sponsoring Purple Hull Racing #443, driven by Chris Irving.

This past week he brought his XJ to me to have some work done. His race XJ has seen some massive abuse through the course of it's life!

The first item on the agenda was getting the Profender 2.0x3" bump stops installed in the front. This required cutting out the factory bumps and building custom cans to fit the XJ coil towers.

Once the cans were installed, pucks were next.

In addition to the bumps, King 2.5x8" (with 9" shaft) Performance series shocks were installed! I made a custom shock mount below the coil buckets after cutting out enough of the bucket to allow the shock to pass. Unfortunatley, I forgot to grab photos of the lower mounts, but I assure you they are sweet! :D

As I mentioned before, this XJ has seen some massive abuse. About the only part of the frame left on this Jeep that is still unibody is the front section. It turns to unibody at the LCA mounts. I cordially refered to this as the unibody nightmare! We really didn't have enough time, but I managed to throw some welds on some of the sheet metal and fix some areas that were "cracking under pressure". This took a lot more time than I had anticipated.

Chris had previously purchased a set of my adjustable arms with the Currie JJ and poly bushings. With the high speeds and stress of racing, the poly bushings just don't last very long. I made some new lower aluminum links with double JJs.

To complete the front, a Currie Antirock kit for the XJ was installed. The stock sway bar mounts were missing and we moved the axle forward one inch. This introduced some problems for for the antirock kit. What's a build without problems though right? No worries, I added a bend to clear the coil springs. (This came out quite sweet!) I extended the currie links in order to reach the mounting tabs that were now lower than the original location.

After the front was complete, it was time to install the Profender 2.0x3" bumps in the rear. Check out the removable can!

The XJ had a 8pt interior cage that needed some reinforcing. This jeep had already taken one roll down a hill at the first race this year. In order to strengthen the cage and mount the King 2.5x10" shocks in the rear, I added some tube to the rear of the cage.

The additional tube was used for both strengthening the existing cage and for providing a place to mount the new shocks.

On the bottom side, an all-in-one mount that takes care of the shock, rear sway bar, and limit strap.

And to finish off the rear, a universal Currie Antirock kit. This was mounted over top of the gas tank, under the spare tire.

The additional tube was used for both strengthening the existing cage and for providing a place to mount the new shocks.

On the bottom side, an all-in-one mount that takes care of the shock, rear sway bar, and limit strap.

And to finish off the rear, a universal Currie Antirock kit. This was mounted over top of the gas tank, under the spare tire.
