On April 7, 2012 at Royal Purple Raceway (Houston Raceway Park) there's gonna be a car & truck show along with truck only racing. My brother (Illuminator) and I are planning on heading down to the show in our XJs (if my jeep isn't giving me problems). Since i rarely get down that way in my XJ i thought it might be a good time to meet some of you guys and show the lowered truck crowd how us jeepers roll. Plus maybe get some advertisement for xjTalk (maybe we could get a xjTalk banner made up). Theres also drag racing for trucks only if any are daring enough. Anyways, just an idea ,ever since i joined i wanted meet you guys. Let me know what y'all think.

Here's the info

This sounds like a good time. Need to get Tony on the track representing xjtalk in the quarter mile

I used to live in Baytown (where the track is, NOT Houston). Truth be told it's really in Cove, Texas, but anyway...

That is 60 miles from my house. I suspect that I may be swapping an engine in my 1998 about that time, depending on msmoorenburg's schedule.

Also too that isn't a fancy place, so as far as the facility (not the track) be prepared to be under whelmed. :D I think it's a great track, and from what I understand one of the fastest tracks in the country.

Things could change but I can't see driving two hours. Now meeting somewhere closer I've been thinking about.

Been to and raced at that track many times as well as many other tracks. It is actually a pretty nice facility compared to most. Course I don't NEED fancy.

I just remember the last time Jim came to a Houston area meet and greet he commented on how he really had to pay attention to the steering on his XJ. We were talking about it last night on chat. He needs some front end parts. I'm mainly giving him a hard time. I'm sure he could make it, but hopefully he'll take something he doesn't have to fight for 100 miles back and forth.

Ok, just making sure. Not worth the risk if its a safety issue.

lol. My drop pitman keeps getting slightly lose so windy days are fun for me as well. I need to get a special washer made and I think it will take care of it long term.

To keep the pitman arm clean? Just throw it in with next load of colors.

I'd love to, but I have Easter stuff with one half of the family Saturday, and the other half on Sunday. We need to get more of these get-togethers cookin' though. I'd love to meet the people behind the keyboards.

Last time I bracket raced an auto cherokee was back in 2004 at infineon raceway north of San Francisco. I hit the nuetral drop harder than intended... in the first heat and broke the driveshaft off at the rear yoke... i didnt do the nuetral drop in the time trials so i dont know why i thought i should in the first heat... anyways I won because the other guy red lighted lol, I just had to be pushed backwards :D

It looks like i'm not gonna make it. Got 15 miles from my house and looked at the temp gauge, it was maxxed. I'm sitting on the side of the highway right now waiting for it to cool. Oh well.

Tell me about it. Got it cooled down and headed back and it started doing it again. At least now i'm at a gas station.

On the cool down the upper radiator hose collapsed.

The auxiliary fan wasn't coming on either  so i hotwired it to get home and the temp was fine.
