A cheap little upgrade that looks and works great. Installed a Grand shifter knob tonight. Very simple.
Put the shifter in neutral and push the button on the shifter and pull, care full not to hit your nose LOL.
Line up the new shift knob and give it a good smack, all done.

Need to add some little strings of yeller paint to keep the theme going. Jeff what are the two yeller knobs one on each side of the switch panel?

I did this mod right after I got Lil Red.

I fought with the Grand in the j/y. It refused to "give it up"

2x4 and a BFH quickly changed its mind.

Installing it on Lil Red was easy, but I needed to "seat" it fully so I used a
BSH (Big Soft Hammer) a.k.a. a rubber mallet.

One or two light hits and it seated properly.

Now, HERS feels wimpy...I havent changed hers over.

I did this mod last year in the XJ, but the ZJ handle refused to be seated, in spite of the BFH ... which I hesitated to use in fear of breaking something. An easier way to get it to seat I found out after a few minutes of research, was to also rescue the little white insert thingie from the ZJ when you take the handle. It's longer than the XJ's and eliminates all fitment problems.

What is that hanging out from under your dash against the drivers kickpanel??

That is the Auto Lock (http://www.autobarn.net/autolockpro.html), sort of like a Club, only it locks up the brake pedal. Tough to defeat because a thief will have a hard time getting a fix on it. And cutting the brake pedal is not an option (like they can cut your steering wheel with the Club). It's a great deterrent (but not "unbrakeable" like they say).

For me, mostly aesthetics and it feels more comfortable in my hand than the stock one.

It feels meatier than the stock one, AND it LOOKS better. IMHO

I love it. I tend to leave my hand on the shifter most the time. Much nicer

Any info on the "white" thingie? I had to get a tube cutter to cut the tube at the JY then wedge vice grips in the bumper mount of a truck to get the handle to come off the tube chunk.

I want to get this mod done because I like to rest my hand on the shifter and the stock shifter makes me feel like I'm reaching too far. Any info on the install would be great.
